Get ready for Red Ribbon Week + Special Education Week at Georgetown Elementary! 🎉 From October 26–30, 2026, we’re celebrating healthy choices, inclusion, kindness, and the unique strengths that make each of us special.

Check out our Spirit Week themes and join the fun each day!

🦸 Monday, October 26 – Superhero Day!
Wear your favorite superhero shirt, costume, cape, or superhero colors! Making healthy choices is a SUPERPOWER!

🏈 Tuesday, October 27 – Team Spirit Day!
Wear your favorite sports team jersey! Heroes know it takes teamwork to make winning choices!

🌈 Wednesday, October 28 – Be Bold, Be YOU!
Show off crazy hair, crazy socks, bright colors, or mismatched clothes! We’re celebrating what makes each of us unique!

💙💛 Thursday, October 29 – GE Spirit Day!
Wear blue and gold to show your Georgetown Elementary pride! Together, we make healthy choices and look out for one another!

📚 Friday, October 30 – Favorite Book Character Day!
Dress as your favorite book character and celebrate the joy of reading!

❤️ Throughout the week, students will also participate in fun activities that celebrate strengths, communication, people with disabilities, kindness, and reading.

Let’s work together to remind our students that healthy choices, kindness, inclusion, and being yourself are all superpowers! 🦸✨

This week, October 12–17, we’re celebrating the amazing cafeteria teams who help keep our students fueled, healthy, and ready to learn! 💙💛

A HUGE thank you to all of our IRSD cafeteria staff for the hard work, care, and dedication you bring to our schools each and every day. From preparing nutritious meals to serving our students with kindness, you play such an important role in making every school day a success! 🥪🥛🍎

🌧️🐾 Chasing Away the Rainy Day Blues with PAWS! 📚💙💛

Need a little sunshine on this rainy day? Our third graders have just the thing to brighten your feed! ☀️🐶 Last week, our students welcomed their first furry friends from the PAWS program for a paws-itively wonderful reading experience! 📖🐾

During each visit, students have the opportunity to read independently with a PAWS dog for approximately 10 minutes while their classmates participate in a whole-group activity. With several furry friends joining each visit, students get a special opportunity to practice their reading skills, build confidence, and enjoy the comfort and companionship of these amazing four-legged reading buddies! 🐕❤️

We may have rainy skies today, but remembering the smiles, wagging tails, and love of reading from last week's visit is sure to bring a little sunshine! 🌦️💙

A big thank-you to the PAWS program for helping our students grow as readers, one page and one paw at a time! 🐾📚

🎒 Backpack Program: Support for GE Families 💙💛

If your family could benefit from additional food support, we invite you to sign up for our Backpack Program through the Delaware Food Bank. This program provides students with food to take home each week to help support families when school is not in session.

We want to make sure our GE families have the resources they need. ❤️

If you are interested in participating, please complete the Backpack Program form and return it to Georgetown Elementary. Forms are available in English and Spanish.
