Krishna's Transplant Journey

As many of you know, we have been back to Iowa four times since the transplant. The kidney is doing fine, and Krishna has been free of dialysis since she got the call for her Transplant in August. I am often asked how Krishna is doing. She is doing well!

Thanksgiving has always been special to me, but this one was certainly a time to reflect on the miracles we have received during the past few months. We are blessed! The amount of support we have received has been simply amazing, and we thank everyone who has supported us.

We are still in amazement as we reflect on the manner in which our community has rallied around Krishna's transplant. We share Krishna's story everywhere we go, and many other kidney patients are encouraged by the generosity we had received. They especially like the part about the plane ride!

Yes, there have been some setbacks, and I will not go into detail, those with specific questions can private message if you would like. We are not deterred by the setbacks, and continue to press forward. We understand what a gift we have received, and are determined to make the most of it. There will inevitably be more setbacks, we will forge on.

Rest assured, Krishna has received the very best care in Iowa, and we would recommend Iowa Methodist to anyone. The folks in Iowa are top notch.

Thanks to everyone for your continued support. We are not scheduled to be in Iowa for at least two more months, but are pushing for a three month break. We need the time to stabilize and get the finances and our household in order.

It has been a while since we have posted. Krishna is home until we go back to Iowa on Halloween.

She is doing well overall. The high steroid dose is causing some issues. The dose will decrease in the coming weeks and should relieve some of the issues.

It has been over a month since the transplant and we have had some time to reflect. WOW! That's all we can say, WOW!

For those who are new to this page, I hope you will go back and read all of the posts. Krishna received her transplant within six weeks of being listed in Iowa. Yes, just six weeks.

We received a beautiful outpouring of support from our community, friends, family, and complete strangers. We were supported beyond belief, and received gifts of love and support every step of the way. There were miracles that occured along our journey, and we will never fully be able to repay the kindness and generosity we were shown.

I continue to post in an effort to give back to the kidney transplant community. We learned so much about finding a path to the fastest transplant, and we have vowed to share the information! The path to a faster transplant is supported by factual data, yet we feel folks think our results were a fluke. It is not a fluke! Our story is not unique!

You do not have to sit quietly and wait for a transplant. You can dramatically shorten your wait. Yes, it will be expensive, but there are people who love you, just waiting to help!

We waited less than six weeks, and while this is fast, we are not the only ones to report such results. Most of what is taught about how transplants are secured is incorrect. We can show you the correct info. It is our mission!

Hi everyone this is Ron. I am sorry if you are receiving multiple posts, but I promised I would give an accurate update about this transplant journey on this blog page.

We are in Iowa!!!! Waiting on some testing results before surgery.

We have waited less than 2 months and Give God All The Glory.

Who could imagine a private plane ride at a moment's notice donated by a local company and orchestrated by Krishna's beloved teacher and friend Don Hearne.

Words cannot express how amazed and grateful we are to God first and foremost, Don Hearne, Richard Apsley, for the use of his plane and generosity and Ron Huddleston as well for helping pilot this beautiful plane.

I truly hope this Miracle inspires others to do their research and finding their shortest wait time. The website is txmultilisting.com.

My wife's case is difficult, but as I told my kids. If you have God on your side and your dream is big enough, THE FACTS DONT COUNT.

I want to thank our family, church family, friends, and complete strangers for their love and support.

This is a Miracle and to God we give the glory!

It is now 1:58, and I finally got hooked up for dialysis. When you have kids, the running never stops. Unfortunately, I will miss church tomorrow because I got on my machine so late.

Thanks so much for the support we have received with our detergent fundraiser. Together, we have reached about 25% of our goal. We still have 2 weeks to go.

Some folks have reached out to us because they bought detergent from another group's fundraiser and like the quality and value. This is good to hear.

I am attaching the flyer that shows the products and pricing. We are not trying to bombard everyone daily but we do need to get the word out.

This is how I do dialysis now. It's call Peritoneal Dialysis. The tube is surgically implanted into my abdomen and I use it to fill and drain fluid. Often people ask me how it works so I thought I'd share. This is for my manual exchange that i do during the day. I first drain the fluid from the previous night on the cycler, then I fill my abdomen with 2 liters of glucose water (sugar water), it then dwells for at least 2 hours, but not more than 10 hours, (the dwell is where the toxins are collected). At this point, my next step is to hook up to my cycler tonight and run it for 9 hours. But at least I get to sleep :)

I've had several people ask me why I am listing in Iowa when I live 8 hours away in Indiana. I will explain. I am currently listed with IU Hospital in Indianapolis. The wait times are long and can be up to 3-4 years for an O+ Kidney, unless you have a living donor. However, there are significantly less wait times in Iowa. There are not near as many people on the transplant list so wait times are not as long. Therefore, it's in my best interest to list in Iowa. We have a private plane ready to fly us out there at a moments notice, should a call come.
