This years first event with the Navy JROTC Air R***e Marksmanship team. It was an overnight trip to a state of the art shooting range in Waycross, Georgia. Founded by Maurice England, 45 years ago! He is 88 and still very involved!
Teams competed over three days. The objective of precision marksmanship is to develop extreme mental focus and discipline, and provide competitive opportunities through three-position air r***e sports and to teach safe fi***rm handling. Cadets continue to learn so much on these trips.
We also stopped on the way down and had a personal tour of the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler, Georgia. What a big beautiful museum! It preserves the legacy of how a small unit initiated in 1942 with just seven men and zero aircraft grew into the world's largest air armada, achieving air supremacy and paving the way for the liberation of occupied Europe.
