What an unforgettable night! We were thrilled to host a preschool/kindergarten drop in event and following our March Family Engagement.
A massive thank you to Kentucky Reptile Zoo for introducing us to six incredible reptiles.

Lola: The 28-year-old Blue-tongue Skink 🦎
George: The speckled Kingsnake (15–20 years old) 🐍
Bob: The 30-to-40-year-old Gopher Tortoise 🐢
Crouton: The Alligator Snapping Turtle (15–20 years old) 🐢
Toffee: The 2.5-year-old American Alligator 🐊
Hercules: The 9-year-old Argentine Boa 🐍

Our students were brave explorers, asking fantastic questions and learning all about how these amazing creatures live and grow. Seeing the kids' faces light up (and maybe a few surprised parents, too!) reminded us why these family nights are so important.

Scott County Schools will be closed Friday, February 6, 2026 due to the inclement weather anticipated for tomorrow.

Scott County Schools will be closed on Friday, January 30, 2026. This will be a traditional snow day, not a NTI day. No assignments for students.

This has been an exceptional year of winter weather so far and we still have several weeks remaining. In Scott County, we have missed 10 regular in person instruction days to date and we aren’t even officially out of the month of January. Because we do not know what the future holds in terms of weather-related cancellations, we are making a conservative change to the school calendar now to add a regular attendance day for students while we can.

Students will now attend school on Monday, February 9, 2026. In the original calendar, this day was listed as a professional development day for teachers. This change allows us to still get out of school before June 1, a goal we all share, and reserve our remaining NTI days for use if weather and dangerous road conditions continue to be a factor. These could easily prove a much-needed resource if current weather patterns continue.

Calendar revision can be inconvenient but we felt this change was important so we can limit further disruption for our students and families while also planning ahead for the unknown. Consistent in person instructional days and the wrap-around services we provide are vitally important for our students.

As the number of snow and NTI days add up, we are also counting down to the day when our schools are open and our students and staff can return to school safely.
