🎄 Hope at Christmas: Support for Gentry Families

The holiday season should be a time of joy, but we know it can also bring added financial stress for families.

Hope at Christmas works to ensure children across Benton County can experience the joy of the season without families having to choose between everyday essentials and Christmas celebration. Through the program, eligible families receive holiday gifts, winter essentials and support during one of the most challenging times of the year.

For Gentry families who may need assistance, applications are completed online, followed by an in-person interview in the fall.

Who qualifies?

Families must:
• Be a Benton County resident
• Have children ages 0–18 (pregnant mothers also qualify)
• Receive SNAP benefits — which provides automatic qualification

Families may receive Christmas assistance from only one organization. Applications are cross-checked with other community partners. Receiving assistance from multiple organizations may result in denial and ineligibility for up to two years.

There are also ways our community can help, including Adopt & Shop, donating gifts or essentials, and volunteering during interview and distribution days.

❤️🤍 PIONEER STUDENT ADMISSION REMINDER!

K–12 Gentry students receive complimentary admission to regular-season HOME athletic events when wearing Pioneer gear, maroon and white, or the announced student-section theme for GHS students.

🎟️ Students must still go through the ticket line and receive a ticket.
👨‍👩‍👧 Students in grades K–5 are strongly encouraged to attend with a parent or responsible adult who remains available throughout the event.
👏 Please follow event rules, staff directions, and show great sportsmanship.

🌟 Celebrating Our September Pioneers! 🌟

Today, we had the opportunity to recognize some outstanding members of our Gentry Middle School family during our all-school assembly!

Our theme this year is Integrity, and Principal Dr. Elizabeth Wieneke reminded students that integrity isn’t just about doing the right thing when someone is watching. It’s about choosing kindness, including others and looking out for the people around us, especially when no one else is watching.

Those everyday choices make a huge difference in the kind of school community we create together.

Today, we celebrated students and a teacher who are helping make Gentry Middle School a place where that kind of character matters.

🍎 Teacher of the Month: Crystal King

Mrs. King was recognized for the way she builds relationships with students and creates a positive environment for those around her. Her nominator said:

“Crystal takes the time to truly know each student, builds their confidence, and spreads that same kindness to her coworkers every day.”

We’re grateful for the kindness, encouragement and care Mrs. King brings to Gentry Middle School each day!

REMINDER: Gentry Middle School and Gentry High School will host a School Handbook Review Night on Tuesday, August 18 at 6:00 p.m. in the GHS Auditorium. We’ll review important policies and topics including attendance, communication, student expectations, safety procedures, anti-bullying information, and other school processes. While some information will be specific to GMS/GHS, all K–12 parents and guardians are welcome!

📣 HAC Grade Access Update

HAC is now available for middle and high school families to access student grades. Access codes have been emailed to new families, and returning families should use their existing HAC login credentials. If you have questions or need help accessing your account, please contact your child's school for assistance. You can find an information page in the comments.

🚗 Traffic Alert

As we kick off the new school year, we wanted to give families a friendly heads up that traffic is typically a little slower during the first week of school.

With hundreds of new students and families joining Gentry Public Schools this year, and as one of Arkansas' fastest growing school districts, many drivers will be learning our campuses and traffic patterns for the first time.

Please plan to leave a few minutes early, allow for a little extra travel time, and extend patience and grace to one another. This is a normal part of the first week, and traffic flow usually improves quickly as everyone settles into their routines.

Gentry Jones and Gabryel Flores won the first two ATLAS raffle prizes for today! Students earn tickets daily for being on time, using their entire testing time, and having excellent testing behavior! Keep up the good work, Pioneers!
