Boys and Girls Cross Country will be hosting eight schools today in their home opener out at Walcamp in Kingston. Girls Race will begin at 5:00 with Boys to follow. There will also be a Middle School race beginning at 4:30.

Gracie Zapatka set a school record in the 3-mile, helping Genoa-Kingston win at Rock Falls. Two other Cogs finished with Top 6 times in school history, while Sycamore boys golf beat Kaneland, Hinckley-Big Rock volleyball beat Hiawatha, and more in the roundup.

The GKXC girls started their season off in a winning fashion! The girls were meet champions, putting all 5 varsity runners in the top 15 medal-scoring positions. We brought home three new PRs from Grace Pena (20:36.90), Alexa Ayala (20:56.80), and a brand new SCHOOL RECORD from Gracie Zapatka with her second place finish in 19:24.50. Keep an eye on this team as they set their sights higher and higher each week!

Your boys GKXC team came away with a 9th place finish, several first time 3 mile race finishes, and PRs from Noah Turnquist (19:02.80) and Oliver Perrin (19:15.70). Many more exciting things to come from this very young team! And a very special thank you to the Genoa-Kingston Athletic Booster Club for our very fancy new folding bench!

SCHOOL RECORD ALERT!
Gracie Zapatka ran the fastest 3-mile time in GK history today at the Rock Falls Invitational! She finished the course in 19:24.5! In addition, with their times today, Emma James now ranks 2nd and Grace Pena ranks 6th all time in GK history! Congrats Ladies!

Congratulations to the GK Girls Cross Country team as they were crowned Champions of the Rock Falls Invitational today! Each of GK's top five runners finished in the top 15 overall, including Gracie Zapatka, who ran the fastest time ever in GK girls XC history with a 19:24.5!

We've had a great first few days of practice and wrapped up the week with Meet the Teams Night! Our athletes are hard at work getting ready for our season. We logged some miles in Russell Woods, on the track, and in the HS hallways!

Both teams are looking to impress when we get down to the Peoria First to the Finish Invite in September, and your support will help us get there!
