With a new school year, we are starting a new tradition here at Walnut Street 😊

We are awarding one teacher a month with recognition and small gift! The teacher is voted upon by families and staff.

For August 2026, we are so excited to announce Ms. Cassidy as our Teacher of the Month! Ms. Cassidy works in our 2 year old classroom. She has been at Walnut since February of 2025.

We are hiring teachers for our Infant Classroom, Two-Year-Old Classroom and School Age Classroom!

We are in search of a few fun loving, organized, self-motivated, energetic individuals to be a part of our team!

Responsibilities’ would be, but not limited to: supervision, child basic care routines, lesson planning and implementation of plans, classroom management, classroom janitorial duties, bulletin boards, meaningful conversations and guiding students through social situations, creating an environment and relationship with the children that is safe, nurturing and comfortable. Job Type: Full-time Teachers (School Age can be either Summer only OR Year Round)

Teacher Qualifications:
• Self-motivated, flexible, and energetic with excellent communication skills

• Must meet DCFS requirements for School age Teacher Qualification:
o At least 19 years of age and have a High School Diploma
o 60 semester hours of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six / For School Age: 30 semester hours with 6 or more hours in course related directly to, child care and/or child development, or for school age teacher: school-age care elementary education, or a related field
o OR (1,560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center and 30 semester hours of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six / For School Age: 1560 clock hours of experience in a recreational program or licensed day care center serving school-age children or a license exempt school-age child care program operated by a public or private school, and 6 or more hours in course related directly to school-age care, child care and/or child development, elementary education, recreation, or a related field
o OR Completion of credentialing programs approved by the Department.
o OR If you are a current ECE student in a nearby school and are interested, please reach out for more details (there are different opportunities for you)

St. Jude Trike-A-Thon - Sept. 2025

2 weeks ago we were privileged to take part in our 11th annual St. Jude Trike-A-Thon. The children learned all week about bike safety, helping others and what the money we were raising goes towards and who it helps. Then at the end of the week, we get to celebrate our success with a bike ride!

Thank you to Deputy Sheriff Near (McHenry County Sheriffs Office) and School Resource Officer Smith (Genoa Police Department) for coming to talk about bike safety with the kids and watch the ride.
