Geneva teachers…the grant application is now available for all teachers and staff working in Headstart, and PreK-12th grade. You can apply for funding up to $1500. Grant applications are due May 27 and awards will be announced in mid-June. We hope you will consider applying! If you have any questions please let us know!

Our mom, Becky Addona, taught in the Geneva City Schools for many years and loved teaching. Over the last 4 years we have awarded over $13,000 in funding. We are proud to be able to continue to offer this grant opportunity through the generous donations of local businesses, friends and family.

Our mission is to provide support for teachers pursuing innovative ways to Teach, Learn and Create while employing many varied and unusual ways to reach ALL children, providing students at every level with exciting and challenging classroom experiences.

Congratulations to this year’s Becky Addona TLC Grant Foundation award recipients – Kathryn Roberts and Kristin Moody! Kathryn Roberts, a Kindergarten teacher at Geneva’s West Street Elementary School, will utilize the funds to improve social language, age-appropriate behaviors and academic progress through play. Kristin Moody, a language pathologist at Geneva North Street School, plans to purchase speech therapy resources to reinforce articulation, language development, listening and memory skills.

We are excited to announce that last week, The Becky Addona TLC Grant foundation awarded $6313.96 in grants to Geneva City School Teachers at HeadStart/UPK, West Street School and North Street School. Started in 2018 after the passing of Becky Addona, who was a teacher for over 30 years, funding for these grants has come from private donations, community business sponsors and through the Becky Addona TLC 5K Run/Walk. Since 2018, over $12,000 in grants have been awarded to Geneva teachers. These grants support our mission to provide support for teachers pursuing innovative ways to Teach, Learn and Create, while employing "many varied and unusual way" to reach ALL children, providing students at every level with exciting and challenging classroom experiences. Congratulations to our 2019-2020 grant winners!

While we have remained optimistic about holding the 2nd annual Becky Addona TLC 5K, the race which would have been held on June 20, 2020, has to be cancelled. Maintaining the health and safety of our participants and community is the first priority for our family. Teachers have submitted grants this spring, and we will still be awarding those grants in June 2020. We are so excited! Watch for more details soon!

If you have registered already, you may choose to receive a full refund or allow us to keep your registration fees and you will receive a registration code for a free entry for our race next June. Please see your email from RunSignUp to make your selection.

Becky Addona was a teacher for many years and her students were of utmost importance each and every day. While it was always about the learning process, our mom understood that the basic needs of kids had to be met before they would be able to concentrate in the classroom. This year, in these unprecedented times, we hope you will join us in donating to the local community as everyone works to get back to normal.
