🎉 Meet Geneva’s first-ever Educator of the Year: Ms. Jamie Wagner! 🏆❤️🖤

Ms. Wagner, an instructional coach at West Street School, was surprised with the honor during today’s Opening Day celebration — along with a $1,000 award sponsored by Finger Lakes Credit Union.

For more than 20 years, Ms. Wagner has made a difference in Geneva classrooms. She began here as a student teacher in 2004 and has since served as a classroom teacher, AIS teacher, behavior coach, personalized learning coach, and instructional coach. Today, she is also a district leader in literacy instruction, supporting and mentoring educators and helping strengthen teaching and learning across Geneva.

Perhaps most fittingly, Ms. Wagner was nominated by a Geneva parent and community member who had seen the impact of her work firsthand through her own children’s experiences learning to read. ❤️

As Superintendent Mr. Wright put it: “Her influence can be seen not only in student outcomes, but in the teachers she coaches and mentors and the culture she helps create.”

Congratulations, Ms. Wagner — Geneva’s inaugural Educator of the Year! 🎉🐾

And thank you to for partnering with us to celebrate the extraordinary educators who make a difference for Geneva students every day.

We’re back, Geneva! 🖤❤️

Geneva City Schools kicked off the 2026–27 school year today with our annual Opening Day celebration — bringing faculty and staff from across the district together to reconnect, celebrate, and get energized for the year ahead.

🎶 Ms. Consolie opened the celebration with the national anthem, Geneva High School cheerleaders brought the Panther spirit, Mr. Tumbelekis kept the energy up as our DJ, and the T-shirt cannon made its return — this year loaded with a whole lot of pink! 💗

We also welcomed new colleagues, celebrated some extraordinary members of our team, and reflected on the work ahead and the experience we want to create for every student, family, colleague, and community member we serve.

🏆 And yes, there were awards! Stay tuned as we introduce Geneva’s inaugural Educator of the Year and this year’s Panther Award winners.

Here’s to a great year, Panthers! 🐾

🚌❤️🖤 There’s no better way to get to know Geneva than to get out and explore it!

Superintendent Wright served as tour guide today as our newest educators — including a few who joined us midyear last year — hopped aboard for our New Teacher Bus Tour.

The tour took the group to each of our schools and our facilities building, through downtown Geneva, and along the lakefront, giving our new teachers a chance to see the community our students call home and begin making connections beyond their own classrooms and schools.

And, of course, a bus tour needs a great driver! A big thank-you to Mr. Mesmer for getting us around Geneva safely. 🚌

Welcome to Geneva! We’re glad you’re here. ❤️🐾

🎒❤️🖤 200 backpacks, packed and ready for Geneva students!

A huge thank-you to the GSF Foundation Committee at KanPak in Penn Yan for once again helping our students start the school year prepared and confident.

KanPak associates assembled and donated 200 backpacks filled with school supplies, including crayons, markers, scissors, glue sticks, notebooks, tissues, and more. The donation is part of the Foundation’s Back(pack) to School program and continues a partnership that has supported Geneva students and families for several years.

Community partnerships like this help expand access to the resources our students need to learn, grow, and thrive. We are incredibly grateful to KanPak and the GSF Foundation for continuing to show up for Geneva! 🎒✏️📓
