🌟🌙 Take Back the Night with intention! 🌙🌟 Community members stood together in solidarity and support at the annual ‘Take Back the Night’ event, creating a powerful and safe space for sharing stories and raising awareness about sexual violence. 🤝🗣️ A heartfelt thanks to Associate Director for Disability Services, Shanelle France, for her moving speech, which set the tone for an evening of empowerment and unity. 🫂💪 The candlelight vigil and march through campus were moments of profound reflection and strength, illuminating our path towards a future free from violence. 🕯️ To every student and community member who came out to support, your presence and commitment to this cause means the world. 🌍💖 Together, we are taking back the night and shining a light on the importance of inclusivity and awareness. 🌈✨

Welcome Back, HWS Class of 2028 and Returning Students!

Welcome to your home away from home! 🌟 As we step into a new academic year, I’m thrilled to see our campus come alive with your energy, passion, and creativity. Whether you’re just beginning your journey with us or returning to continue it, the Adams Intercultural Center (AIC) is here for you. This is a place where your voices matter, where your leadership takes root, and where your sense of belonging is always growing.

I want to take a moment to thank Dr. Molina for her incredible contributions to the AIC and for her thoughtful leadership. Her leadership style reminds me that home is a verb. Home is not just a physical structure nor a set of hierarchies, which both have been recently renewed. Home is the kinship bonds we create, the community we build, and the way we support one another. I’m so grateful that my family and I have been welcomed into the AIC, HWS, and the Geneva community, and I’m excited to see how we can continue to strengthen this home together.

As we move forward, I’m eager to work with all of you to make the AIC not only a space of belonging but also a hub for institutional change. We’ll collaborate to amplify your voices, connect your activism with the goals of HWS Strategic Diversity Plan, and ensure that the AIC continues to be a place where your leadership and organizational change skills shine.

My colleagues, graduate assistants, and I are here for you, ready to support and work alongside you. Let’s make this year one of growth, connection, and powerful change.

Here’s to a fantastic journey ahead!

Warmly,
René Guo & Popsicle

For , during past summers, the AIC organized thrilling excursions for students, creating unforgettable memories. From shopping sprees at Eastview Mall to exploring the vibrant International Markets in Rochester, each trip offered a unique blend of fun and cultural enrichment. The Ithaca Festival brought music, art, and community spirit to life, while the heart-pounding rides at Darien Lake had everyone screaming with joy! As students gathered for the annual Memorial Day BBQ, the sound of laughter filled the air marking the perfect end to a season of adventures. We hope looking back on these field trips will remind us all of the bonds formed and the experiences shared during those carefree summer days! 🌞🛍️🎢🍦

Introducing Sabrin Olad ‘27, a space manager at The Adams Intercultural Center (AIC) and her description about the efforts she has contributed to the center thus far: “I have found great fulfillment in organizing the library, transforming it into a functional and inviting space for students. This role has allowed me to apply my organizational skills to create an environment conducive to learning and collaboration. Additionally, hosting events at the AIC has been a significant part of my experience, providing a platform to engage with and contribute to the Geneva community. Events such as the Geneva Peace event have allowed me to build meaningful connections with local residents and foster a sense of community within the center. I am grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact both within the AIC and in the broader Geneva community.”

For this weeks , Did you know the AIC’s walls hold decades of student adventures? Tucked away in our library, we found a treasure chest of precious postcards from the 1970s onward. These colorful snapshots tell the tales of HWS students exploring the world, from the beaches of Brazil to the Great Wall of China. These postcards are more than just travel memories. They’re a time capsule of our office’s journey too! We’ve come a long way from our days as the Office of Minority Affairs; Third World Cultural Center; Intercultural Affairs Center and The Adams Intercultural Center. We can’t wait for future students to discover the world beyond Geneva and keep us in the loop with postcards of their journeys!✨
