I was one to journal for like a day, before giving it up. And some of my early attempts at journaling were pretty dramatic. But, once I started taking care of my mental health a bit more, journaling has become more routine...and easier. I sometimes skip, but whether I'm jotting some notes on my phone or on paper, at least I'm reflecting and processing!

I may not be a K-12 school teacher, but I know that lunch time for kids (and particularly my middle schooler) is a time for socializing, swapping your PB & J for someone else’s lunchable, and feeling a little free. Now, imagine you’re a kid, sitting pretty much alone, with no one in front of you, or to your side, about four people per long, cafeteria-style table. Imagine lunch aides desperately yelling at students to stay apart. Imagine sitting on a bus alone. All I know is that kiddos will need some immense social emotional work this year to feel connection, validated, heard, and loved.
