Genesee Country Christian School

Genesee Country Christian School is a non-denominational Christian school that was founded in 1996.

Susan Teitsworth and other members of the Christian community initiated the idea for the school. The school began with 6 kindergarten students, a principal and 1 teacher in a rented room in Groveland Federated Parish. Friends of the school built a schoolhouse and Genesee Country Christian School added one grade per year until the first kindergarten class reached the sixth grade. In 2010 the board

voted to add a middle school program and beginning in 2011 the school will add a seventh grade and an eighth grade in 2012. For more than a twenty years the school has depended on God’s faithful provision and has remained debt-free operating in the black each year! The board, parents, and faculty work together to help students grow in Christ and relate Christian truth to all aspects of life. We strive to work hand in hand with parents and local churches to instill within students the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and living a God-centered life. GCCS presently educates more than 70 Preschool through Eighth grade students.

During my time at GCCS, one of the questions I am asked most often is, "How can we support the school?" As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, our teachers have created wish lists of classroom items that will help them best serve our students.

To make giving as convenient and cost-effective as possible, we have both an Amazon Wish List and a Walmart Wish List, since some items are significantly less expensive at Walmart than on Amazon.

Whether you choose to purchase an item, pray for our school, or support us in another way, we are deeply grateful for your generosity and partnership. Your kindness is a tremendous blessing to our students, teachers, and school community.

✨ Meet Our New Teachers! ✨

We are excited to welcome two wonderful new teachers to the GCCS family for the upcoming school year!

🍎 Welcome, Mrs. Diana Akers – Pre-K Teacher!

Mrs. Akers and her husband have been married for 22 years and are the proud parents of four children—two in college and two in high school. Their home is also filled with furry friends, including two cats, two rabbits, and a guinea pig! She enjoys cooking, baking, hiking, playing board games with her family, and traveling in search of the best local ice cream shops.

Mrs. Akers earned her Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Baptist Bible College. She shares, "I am so thankful for this amazing opportunity to join the GCCS family, and I cannot wait to meet all of you!"

🍎 Welcome, Mrs. Lauren O'Grady – K/1 Teacher!

Mrs. O'Grady graduated from SUNY Oswego with a Bachelor of Science in Adolescent Education with a concentration in English. She later earned her Master of Science in Education in Inclusive Education from Nazareth College.

She enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and young son, reading, and vacationing. After 16 years of teaching high school English, she is excited to begin this new chapter teaching our Kindergarten/1st Grade class and is thrilled to join the GCCS family!

Please join us in giving Mrs. Akers and Mrs. O'Grady a warm GCCS welcome! We are blessed to have them on our team and can't wait to see the impact they will have on our students this year. 💙📚

Just 1 more day of school! 🎉

On our second-to-last day, the students planted about 40 dogwood bushes that we received from the DEC. Before getting started, they received a short lesson from Mr. Petraitis on proper planting techniques.

In the afternoon, the kids enjoyed a Beach Read-In and cooled off with popsicles. 🍧📚☀️

I think they might be a little spoiled... but they've certainly earned it and are ready for summer break.
