Pumpkin pie in a cup! 🎃🥧 A yummy fall treat AND so many opportunities to learn!

Our Deer Preschoolers used picture recipe cards to follow multistep directions and make their own pumpkin pie in a cup. Those pictures helped them connect symbols to print and real ingredients and actions, work through the steps in order, and stay focused on a task. Preparing their treats also gave those little hands practice using utensils and building fine-motor coordination!

This activity supports our Creative Curriculum objectives for following directions, thinking symbolically, attending and engaging, and using fingers and hands. Everyday experiences like cooking give children meaningful ways to practice these skills—and getting to enjoy what they made is a pretty sweet bonus! 🧡
