Summer Program for Kids Grades K-4
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church
800 N. Bluff St. North
Hutchinson, MN 55350
Our Savior’s is sponsoring a program designed for children who have completed kindergarten through fourth grade to train their brains to give them ideas of things to do instead of all the electronic noise and screen flashes. As alternatives to screen time, this program offers opportunities for children to learn and practice skills of cooking, crafts, drawing, games, gardening, sewing, and writing, while learning of the love Jesus has for them. During the 3 months together, each child will learn about his or her miraculous God-given brain, how it develops and works and how to use and strengthen self-control, manners, empathy and other such actions. At the end of the program, the children will show invited guests what they have learned, made and experienced through a carnival event fund raiser for a mission of the children’s choice!
We will learn a few simple cooking skills, lean to sew on a button or craft a shopping bag or make sun hat. Using books in the library, we will research games kids played before computers and televisions were invented. Learning how our brains develop and what our brains can do, will help us learn ways which are good and not so good for our brains. God made His world for us. We learn what the Bible says about how we are to care for the world. All was good at creation time, then one mistake by man ruined it. Though we disobeyed, God still loves us. He sent His only Son, Jesus, to take on our sins & give us life!
This program is not licensed by DHS and is not operated by Our Savior’s Early Learning Childcare. It is sponsored by Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. It will be led by Candace Metzger, who is trained and experienced working with children of all ages. It will be open for 6-14 children. If fewer than 6 children are enrolled, the program will be cancelled.
For more information, and to register, message Candace.
