Our students and faculty members perform frequently in the community and work to keep Northern Michigan's musical life thriving. The Ga***rd Community Music School was founded in 2009 by a group of local music teachers who wanted to create a professional learning environment for Ga***rd-area music students. At GCMS, we challenge our students in a comfortable environment, maximizing educational gro

wth. Our studio is conveniently located by the Pavilion in downtown Ga***rd and provides a beautiful setting for learning. All of our core faculty are experienced performers and teachers with degrees in music; adjunct faculty are actively pursing a degree in music. Two members of our faculty have certification and diplomas specifically related to addressing the learning needs of people with developmental challenges. GCMS faculty and students are active members of their musical community. They perform in the Ga***rd Chamber Orchestra, Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra, Northern Michigan Flute Choir, Alpena Symphony, Ga***rd Community Band, Ga***rd Community Choir, Ga***rd Community Productions pit orchestra, and other ensembles and events across the region. We are formerly known as the Vivo School of Music.
