🎉 Congratulations to Gaston Christian School’s newest Eagle Scout! 🦅
We're proud to celebrate Cooper Sass’s remarkable achievement—earning the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. For his Eagle Project, he dreamed big and left a lasting legacy at Rocky Branch Park. After meeting with the trail coordinator, he planned, organized, and led the construction of a beautiful new observation deck and a children’s obstacle course, raising nearly $8,000 and rallying over 500 volunteer hours from Scouts, friends, family, and community supporters.
The project wasn't without its challenges—like transporting 12 tons of materials over half a mile into the park! But his leadership and determination made it happen. Even after the work was done, he generously donated the remaining funds back to the park to support future improvements.
His dedication caught the eye of the Belmont tourism department, which featured his project in a recent article about Rocky Branch Park. Check it out here: https://historicbelmont.com/new-enhancements-make-rocky-branch-park-a-must-ride-trail-near-charlotte/
Thank you for inspiring us all and for making such a meaningful difference in our community. We’re so proud of you! 👏

Gold & Trifecta Award
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest achievement in Girl Scouting and accomplished by high school students. It honors young women who identify an issue in their community and dedicate at least 80 volunteer hours designing and executing sustainable community projects that address said local or global issue.
Earning the Gold Award sets you apart for college admissions, scholarships, internships, and careers, and can even earn you a higher entry rank into the military. As a high school senior, you can also apply for the Girl Scout Gold Award College Scholarship and be able to wear GS cords or a sash/ stole during graduation.
Bailey is being recognized as a Senior-level Girl Scout who will be bridging to Ambassador in May with Troop 20023. Bailey completed her Girl Scout Gold Award with the project "Stress Less," which focused on creating a location that students and the community could visit to decompress and use their 5 senses, along with sensory tools to help manage stress, anxiety, expectations, and the pressures we deal with day to day. Also available to those who just want to rest and pray. It is a beautiful outdoor classroom space. She also partnered with the school's guidance department to provide mindfulness workshops and ongoing mental health resources for the student body.
Bailey has shown leadership throughout her 10 years in Girl Scouts. She earned her GS Bronze Award as a Junior with a project focused on hunger, providing birthday blessing kits to food banks during COVID. She earned her GS Silver Award as a Cadette by building benches and rest areas for playgrounds, as well as a prayer area, at a local school. Now she culminates with her GS Gold Award, which is equal to the Boy Scout Eagle Award. Completing these time-consuming projects earns her the highest and rarest award, the Trifecta Award, which truly sets her apart in Girl Scouting and life.
Through the years, Bailey was a leader in academics, athletics, and community service. She is part of the Beta Club, Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy, Costume designer for Seussical, Golden Glove Award, All-State and All-Conference player, Top cookie seller for multiple years in Girl Scouts, and she mentors young athletes by tutoring, giving batting lessons, and helping coach team practices. Also, donations can go to the Ronald McDonald House and blessing bags for the NICU. She volunteers in VBS, the nursery, and preschool rooms at her local church, and so much more for her community.
Bailey, we are so proud of you and can’t wait to see God’s plan for your future!
