Good Evening, Families!
This is Principal Lawson with a few updates.

On Tuesday, September 1, Kindergarten and Third Grade will host their Back-to-School Parent Night so families can receive important information. Third grade will begin at 5, and Kindergarten will begin at 5:30.

Most students now know their color squad. Our first color war will be Friday, September 11. On this day, students should dress head to toe in their color to represent their squad, and we will have special morning events to see who will take the first spirit stick of the year. As always, families are encouraged to get creative and participate in the morning car rider line!

Fast Pass will begin on Tuesday, September 8. Families who qualified for Fast Pass from last year’s Fun Run will receive updated car tags soon.

Parents will not be able to eat lunch with students until after Labor Day, beginning on Tuesday, September 8th. This will give students time to learn cafeteria procedures and get everything running smoothly. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Hawks Nest STEAM Academy is providing a dessert waffle bar and refreshments in appreciation of your time. Plus, we will have coloring and other activities to offer your children.

Good Evening, Families!
This is Principal Lawson with a few updates.

On Thursday, the PTO will be hosting its first meeting of the year. This is an important time to come out and hear all the wonderful things happening in the organization. The PTO has also asked Principal Lawson to have a community forum at the meeting. All parents are invited to submit questions for Principal Lawson to answer and to hear more about her and the vision for the school. Light refreshments will be served. The PTO meetings this year will begin at 4:15pm. The hope is that parents can come to the meeting right after school and before any evening responsibilities begin.

Here are a few arrival and dismissal reminders.

All students should be dropped off between 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM at the back entrance of the school. Students should NOT be dropped off at the front door. You can access the back driveway from Union Road between Robinson Elementary School and Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church. Staff will direct traffic and assist students from their vehicles. All students should be ready to exit the vehicle when the car door is opened. Parents should remain in the vehicle.

Remember that all tardies and early check-outs are tracked at the school level and could affect a student's seat eligibility at Hawks Nest. This is especially true for unexcused tardies and early check-outs. Please refer to the student handbook for more information.

Dismissal for 1st through 5th graders and kindergarteners with a sibling at Hawks Nest - please enter the back driveway the same as drop-off in the mornings. Car tags should be clearly visible on your vehicle's dash so we can call names quickly and efficiently. Vehicles without car tags will be asked to park in the front parking lot and then proceed to the front office to show an ID to pick up their student after dismissal.

Dismissal for Kindergarteners without a sibling at Hawks Nest - These students will be picked up in the front just like on staggered entry days. Please have your car tag up and visible so that names can be read easily.

Gaston County Police have asked that all vehicles TURN RIGHT onto Robinwood Road when exiting the school driveway, and find a safe place to turn around if needed. Turning right keeps traffic from backing up into the school driveway, and hopefully prevents serious accidents.
