After working as a high school counselor for fourteen years, I started Collins College Consulting in 2015. After twenty years of helping students and parents navigate the college admissions process, I understand the anxiety it can create for everyone involved. I also know first-hand that school counselors are often overworked and cannot give students the individual attention they want and need. Fo
r high school seniors, Collins College Consulting helps students optimally market themselves and apply for college by assisting students in the school selection process, essay brainstorming and development, and college application review. I also assist in identifying and applying for scholarship opportunities. I have worked extensively with both the college and scholarship processes and know that the most successful (and less stressed) applicants are ones who started the process when they were in late middle school/early high school. Course selection, SAT/ACT preparation, and extra-curricular and leadership activities are just some areas students often need assistance with as they navigate through high school. I thoroughly enjoy learning about the student’s individual strengths and interests. What works well for one student does not necessarily work for the next. My process emphasizes self-discovery, understanding a student’s key strengths and interests, and positioning the student’s communication materials (applications, resume, essays) to optimally market the student for these purposes.
