Today we celebrate freedom, resilience, and the importance of community. Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865—the day enslaved African Americans in Texas learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

At Sherwood, we believe in honoring history while continuing to build a future where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered.

This council will give parents and caregivers a voice in helping shape the future of public education across our state by providing feedback and input on important educational initiatives.
