Learning to control these details gives you more freedom to express yourself behind the kit. It’s not always about playing more—it’s about playing with intention, feeling, and knowing exactly how you want each note to sound. 🎶🔥

The Road Less Traveled: Unlocking New Drumset Possibilities!

This is a short clip of me practicing. Whenever I play, I strive to sound musical and create natural phrasing—similar to what you hear in great songs, where every note has purpose and direction. I encourage you to think of yourself as more than just a drummer. Become a complete musician by weaving melody, dynamics, and expression into your rhythmic playing.
One of the most overlooked areas of drumming is the non-dominant side—especially the hi-hat foot. By developing textures with steady eighth notes, quarter notes, heel slaps, quick openings, barks, and half-open sounds, you can add a whole new dimension to your playing. As your left foot becomes a stronger timekeeper, it frees your right foot to explore polyrhythms and more creative ideas.
I’ve always enjoyed exploring these “road less traveled” concepts and finding ways to make difficult ideas logical and approachable. Developing your non-dominant side can transform your coordination, expand your creativity, and give your playing a more musical voice.
