This week’s FMIS Family Team Focus is all about BEING ARGUMENT DETECTIVES! 🗣️💡
Did you know that both 5th and 6th graders will complete argumentative writing for their state tests? A great (and fun!) way to practice at home is by using the CER method—looking for the Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning in everyday life!

The next time you are watching TV, a movie trailer, or a YouTube video together, put on your detective hats and ask your child:

• 🎯 What is the Claim? What is this commercial trying to convince us to buy, believe, or do?

• 📊 What is the Evidence? What facts, numbers, or examples do they show to prove their point?

• 🧠 What is the Reasoning? Why does that evidence actually support their claim? Does the argument make sense, or are they just using catchy music and bright colors?

This week’s FMIS Family Team Focus is all about FAMILY CONVERSATIONS!🗣️❤️

Fall Break is the perfect time to slow down, spend time together, and have meaningful conversations! You might be surprised by what you learn from your 5th or 6th grader!

While enjoying the long weekend, try asking your child:

🍁 What is something you're proud of accomplishing this school year?

⭐️ What has been your biggest challenge, and how have you handled it?

📚 What is something interesting you've learned recently?

💙 Who is someone at school who has made a positive difference in your day?

🎯 What is one goal you have for the rest of the year?

Remember, some of the most important learning happens through simple conversations! Whether you're riding in the car, sharing a meal, or enjoying the outdoors, take a few minutes to connect.
