💙 **Vocabulary = Learning Power!** 💛

What another great week at FMIS! Our students are learning, growing, and working hard every day, and we are so proud of the progress we see happening in our classrooms! 📚✨

At FMIS, we are committed to helping every student **LEAD, LEARN, SERVE, and EXCEL.**

And because we know that
school + family = a powerful team, it’s time for another FMIS Family Team Focus!💙💛

📚 **This Week’s Family Team Focus: Building Vocabulary!** 🗣️✨

Did you know that vocabulary is important in EVERY subject? Whether students are reading a story, solving a math problem, exploring science, or learning about history, understanding the words and language of the subject helps them understand the content! 🧠💡

When students know more words, they have more tools to understand, think, explain, and learn.

Families, we need your help!😊 Building vocabulary doesn’t have to feel like studying. You can build vocabulary anywhere and anytime!

⭐️ Ask your child about a new word they learned at school.
⭐️ Have them explain what the word means in their own words.
⭐️ Ask them to use the word in a sentence.
⭐️ Look for interesting words while reading together.
⭐️ Encourage your child to use specific, descriptive words when talking.
⭐️ Ask, “What does that word mean”when you hear an unfamiliar word.
⭐️ Challenge your child to teach YOU a new word! 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫

And remember, vocabulary isn't just about memorizing definitions. It's about understanding words well enough to use them, connect them, and explain them.

Thank you for partnering with us and helping our students build the language and confidence they need to be successful in every subject and beyond the classroom! 🏆

Together, we will LEAD. LEARN. SERVE. EXCEL.💙💛

🎶 Music is for ALL! 🎶

At FMIS, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to discover their talents, participate fully, and experience the joy of making music! 💙

Adaptive instruments help make that possible. This NUVO flute is specially designed with features that make playing more accessible, including a smaller size for smaller hands, a curved head joint that makes it easier to hold, and a mouthpiece aid that supports proper air flow.

We are so excited that our very own Reagan Fallaw is using this adaptive instrument and is now part of the FMIS Band! Reagan is thrilled to make music alongside her classmates, and we are thrilled to see her shine! 🎵

Come cheer on Reagan and all of our talented sixth-grade musicians at their Winter Concert on December 8th!

Because when we remove barriers and create opportunities, every student gets a chance to belong, participate, and shine. ❤️

📚🐯 MEET IT OR BEAT IT! 🐯📚
Tomorrow, our Tigers will begin their i-Ready Inform Assessments for ELA and Math! The assessments will take place August 17–21 and will help our teachers identify each student’s strengths and areas for growth.

Parents, help your Tiger start the week strong by encouraging them to:
✨ Get a good night’s sleep
🥞 Eat a good breakfast
✏️ Take their time and show their work
💪 Try their best and not stress over questions they find challenging

Remember, i-Ready isn’t about getting every question right, it’s about showing us where your child is and where they’re ready to grow next! 🌱

Let’s get ready to MEET IT OR BEAT IT! 🐯📚

💙Multiplication Facts = Math Success!💛

We had another great week at FMIS! Our students are learning, growing, and working hard every day, and we are so proud of the progress we’re already seeing! 📚✨

At FMIS, we are committed to helping every student LEAD, LEARN, SERVE, and EXCEL.

And because we know that
school+family = a powerful team, it’s time for another FMIS Family Team Focus!💙💛

✏️ **This Week’s Family Team Focus: Practicing Multiplication Facts!**

Strong multiplication fact fluency is an important building block for success in math. When students know their multiplication facts quickly and confidently, they have more brain power available to tackle more challenging math skills! 🧠➗✖️

**Families, we need your help!** 😊

Take just **5–10 minutes each day** to practice multiplication facts with your child. You can:
⭐️ Ask them facts in the car or at dinner
⭐️ Use flashcards
⭐️ Practice with a multiplication chart
⭐️ Have them write and solve facts
⭐️ Play a quick multiplication game
⭐️ Challenge them to beat their own time!

Remember, **a little practice every day can make a BIG difference!** 💪

Thank you for partnering with us and helping our students build the skills and confidence they need to be successful mathematicians. Together, we can make learning at school and home a winning combination! 🏆

**Together, we will LEAD. LEARN. SERVE. EXCEL.** 💙💛

💙What a FIRST week!💛

We’ve had an amazing first week of school at FMIS! From learning new routines and building relationships to jumping right into learning, our students have already given us so many reasons to be proud. We are excited about all that this school year has in store!

At FMIS, we are committed to helping every student LEAD, LEARN, SERVE, and EXCEL.

And because we know that school + family = a powerful team, we’re introducing a weekly FMIS Family Team Focus!
Each week, we’ll share one small skill or habit that we’re encouraging our students to practice at school and at home.

✏️ This Week’s Family Team Focus: Capitalizing the Word “I”

It may seem like a little thing, but those little things matter! 😊 This week, we’re reminding students that the word “I” is always capitalized when they write.

Families, you can help us reinforce this by looking for a capital “I” in homework, texts, notes, or even grocery lists!

Thank you for partnering with us as we help our students grow into confident learners, leaders, and citizens. We are SO excited for this year!

🎬 Take a look at a few highlights from our FIRST WEEK at FMIS!

Together, we will LEAD. LEARN. SERVE. EXCEL.💙💛

🐯 Attendance Matters at Frances Mack Intermediate School!

Every day at school is an opportunity for our Tigers to learn, grow, build relationships, and succeed. Regular attendance is one of the most important ways families can support their child’s success.

We also want families to understand that unlawful absences add up and, under South Carolina attendance requirements, can lead to an Attendance Intervention Plan, district-level hearing, and eventually court involvement. Even frequent tardies and early dismissals equal missed instructional time.

Our goal is always to partner with families before attendance becomes a larger concern. If your child must miss school, please provide the appropriate parent or medical documentation. If your family is experiencing challenges that are affecting attendance, reach out to us—we want to help!

An unlawful absence is any unexcused absence.

💙💛 We are your partners, not the attendance police. Together, we can remove barriers, improve attendance, and help every Tiger thrive.

Be Present. Be Prepared. Be TIGER Proud. 🐯
