So many families are still trying to recover, regroup, and simply get life back in order. Sometimes what a family needs most is an extra set of hands.

EDsquire Legacy Learning’s Super Nanny Family Support Division is here to assist families during this time of relief and recovery.

We want to help where we can. That may look like helping with children while parents handle important matters, running or picking up essential items, helping families get organized for school, providing academic activities for children, or simply stepping in where an extra hand is needed.

And we need volunteers.

If you are an educator, college student, retired teacher, parent, community member, or simply someone with a heart to serve families, we would love to have you join this effort.

You don’t have to do everything. Just be willing to help somewhere.

Northwest Indiana has been hit hard, and my heart is with every family navigating the aftermath. ❤️

EDsquire Legacy Learning is checking in on our community and praying that families are safe and getting back on their feet.

For current families, tutoring can resume online if getting to an in-person session is difficult right now.

And for families looking for academic support, EDsquire is also accepting new scholars for virtual tutoring.

Online sessions are engaging, interactive, and individualized to meet each scholar’s learning needs while keeping them progressing academically.

Attention Teachers

This advice may not be practical for every classroom, but I hope it’s helpful.

1. With the ban on personal devices, we have to move from “set it and get it” to active engagement. Teach Like a Champion. Keep scholars thinking, talking, moving, and participating.
2. If you’re not on social media, consider getting familiar with it. Know the trends, the language, the conversations, and what your scholars are interested in. Understanding their world helps you connect your instruction to their reality.
3. Consider meaningful projects or purposeful homework when appropriate. Many scholars will rush home to catch up on everything they missed online. Give them something worth coming back to school and talking about. Explore the Flipped Classroom model to maximize instructional time.
4. Relate. Relate. Relate. Build relationships and make learning relevant. Engagement increases when scholars see themselves in the lesson.
5. Blend learning intentionally. Teach scholars well using both traditional instruction and digital learning. Classroom devices are not babysitters. They are tools that should deepen understanding, build digital literacy, and help scholars discover how technology can benefit them academically, professionally, and even financially.
6. Have fun teaching! Energy is contagious. If you’re excited about learning, your scholars are much more likely to be excited too.

This school year may require us to teach differently, but different doesn’t have to mean worse. It may just be the opportunity to become even more intentional educators.
