Dear CSD Families and Staff,

I’m happy to share that full power has been restored to both school buildings.

Monday, August 24, will be a teacher workday so staff can prepare the buildings and classrooms. We will welcome our students back on Tuesday, August 25.

We know this closure has been disruptive for families and staff, especially amid the uncertainty about when power would be restored. Thank you for being patient and flexible while we waited for the buildings to be ready to reopen safely.

We also recognize that some members of our community are still without power. Please reach out if we can support you in any way.

Grab-and-go breakfast and lunch will remain available to all CSD students at the ELC on Monday from 9:00–10:00 a.m.

Thank you for trusting us to make the right decisions for the safety of our students and staff. I’m incredibly proud of how the CSD community has come together, and we cannot wait to see everyone on Tuesday.

*Here is a resource from Calumet Township Trustee
Tomorrow, Monday, August 17, beginning at 12:00 PM, Calumet Township Trustee will continue their relief efforts with a Community Cookout and Emergency Food Voucher Assistance at the Calumet Township Multipurpose Center.
American Red Cross Reps will also be on site to connect residents with available disaster relief resources and information.

🚨 There are A LIMITED NUMBER OF EMERGENCY FOOD VOUCHERS REMAINING FOR TOMORROW. Assistance will be provided while available.

Please come with patience and respect for the Calumet Township staff and one another. Many members of the Township team are also still without power in their own homes, and the Township facility remains without power as well.

Despite those challenges, the team is continuing to show up and do everything they can to serve the community during this difficult time.

Below are a few resources for families who may be in need.

YWCA Shelter & Resource Hub
The YWCA is currently serving as a primary shelter hub for residents impacted by the storm and power outages. Families have access to:

* Free meals throughout the day
* Showers and charging stations
* Beds for overnight stays
*Food trucks will be at the site for families who wish to purchase food

Families are welcome to utilize the shelter and stay as long as needed.
