Important Update for Lake Ridge New Tech Schools Families

Beginning July 1, 2026, Senate Bill 78 (SEA 78), signed by Governor Mike Braun, will require Indiana public schools to implement updated cell phone expectations during the school day.

At Lake Ridge New Tech Schools, we are committed to creating focused learning environments that support student success, minimize distractions, and encourage positive face-to-face interactions.

Please review the attached graphic for important information regarding our updated cell phone expectations for the 2026-2027 school year.

Dear Longfellow Families and Community,

I wanted to share that I will be stepping away from my role as principal of Longfellow Elementary.

Serving this school community over the past three years has been one of the greatest honors of my career. I am incredibly proud of our students and all that we have accomplished together. The growth our children have made is a reflection of the dedication of our staff, families, and community.

After a season of reflection following the loss of my mother, I realized it was time to begin a new chapter. While I will continue serving Lake Ridge Schools in a different capacity, Longfellow will always hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you for trusting me with your children and allowing me to be part of this wonderful community. I will always treasure my time at Longfellow.

There is NO DOUBT that the Longfellow Field Day is THE BEST!! Ms. Shirer and the Field Day Committee with Mrs. Adcock and the PTA put so much effort into making this an awesome day for our kids. Thank you to all our volunteers for manning the stations and helping so much. (Mr. Choate deserves an award for manning the pie in the face station!) A special thank you to the Lake Ridge Volunteer Fire Department and the Lake County Sheriff’s Department for hosing the kids off all day and landing an actual helicopter in the middle of the field!! If your kids came home dirty, wet, and missing their socks, just know we made a bunch of happy memories!!
