Garrett-Keyser-Butler Community School District will operate under a two-hour delay tomorrow, Monday, October 5. The two-hour delay will apply to all GKB schools.

Due to water-related issues stemming from last week’s heavy rainfall, crews have spent the weekend working to remediate the affected areas. While significant progress has been made, additional time is needed Monday morning to ensure impacted classrooms at J.E. Ober Elementary are properly reset and ready for students and staff.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of our families as we work to ensure our learning spaces are safe and ready for students after the situation was addressed over the weekend.

There will be no school today, October 1 or tomorrow, October 2 for GKB schools. See everyone back on Monday!

🎡 Learning through play!

Ms. Wright’s first graders kicked off Fair Games on Monday, created by the National Inventors Hall of Fame. On Monday, students tackled Balancing Act, learning how levers work, then put that knowledge into action with Ring the Bell, exploring intervals and levers through hands-on fun.

What a great way to bring STEM learning to life on Fair Week in DeKalb County.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated in Give Like Dolly Day! ❤️📚

From donations, a lot of students in pajamas with stuffed animals—or “dollies”—to our staff raffles and a generous donation from the GHS Railway Cafe, our GKB community came together to raise a great amount for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library through our partnership with United Way of DeKalb County!

Thank you to everyone who helped support this wonderful program and put more books into the hands of children in our community! 🚂📚❤️
