Brick by brick, our campers brought the story of the Israelites’ journey and the Tabernacle to life—and then proudly explained what they built. We learned that our hands can reflect the creativity of the God who made us. And we could not be more proud of these kids—their creativity, their teamwork, and how much they learned along the way!

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” — Psalm 19:1

A perfect way to wrap up summer camp 2026.

How do we cultivate creativity? Is obedience the enemy of creativity?

Somewhere along the way, a thought can form… that a child who is taught to listen, follow directions, and form good habits must be giving up some of their freedom and creativity.

But these things are not opposites.

At our Trash to Treasure Makerspace Camp, our students had boundaries. They practiced good habits. They learned to use tools properly, care for materials, listen to instruction, and consider the people working beside them.

And then they were free to create.

No step-by-step instructions.
No identical end products.
No “make yours look like mine.”

Just look at what they made!

Good authority doesn’t require standardization. Good boundaries can give children the security and skills they need to explore freely.

And isn’t there a picture of the Gospel here, too?

Followers of Jesus don’t believe freedom means having no authority over us. We believe true freedom is found in belonging to a good God. He doesn’t simply demand that we behave on the outside. He changes us from the inside.

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you.”
—Ezekiel 36:26

A hard heart made soft. A heart learning to love what is good.

We can cultivate good habits.
We can teach obedience to good authority.
We can make room for enormous creativity.

And in the middle of cardboard scraps, glue guns, inventions, mistakes, and trying again, we can make room for conversations about the Maker who made us—and the God who alone can make our hearts new.

“The old has gone. The new has come.”

“Never be within doors when you can rightly be without.” — Charlotte Mason 🌿

We had an amazing week at our Cultivate: Garden & Art Camp! A huge thank you to our incredible garden educator for creating so many meaningful, hands-on experiences for our campers. Throughout the week, they made mosaics, painted landscapes, learned basket weaving, made paper, explored the garden, and experienced so much more.

There’s something special about slowing down, getting our hands dirty, creating with natural materials, and spending our days outdoors.

“For we are co-workers in God’s service.” — 1 Corinthians 3:9

From vision to reality….As we wrap up Year 2, we’re overwhelmed with gratitude 🙏 What started as a simple vision has become a life-giving community—and this outdoor play space is a beautiful reflection of that.

Thank you to every family who has helped build not just this play area, but this entire school. Your support, prayers, hard work, and belief in this vision have helped make it a reality.

As we look ahead to Year 3, we’re filled with excitement and expectancy for what God has in store—both for this space and for the community He is continuing to grow. 💛

Here’s to the next chapter.

Our 4th & Final Family Outing of the School Year 🍓

On Friday, our microschool families gathered at Fifer’s Farm for our final family outing of the year. We went to Linvilla Orchards in the Fall, Legoland Discovery in the Winter, Jumperz in the Spring, and now Fifer’s!

These outings are about so much more than a fun day together. We believe parents are our partners and families are our village. Parenting is the hardest—and most rewarding—job in the world. Add homeschooling to the mix, and it’s even more important to have a community that understands the journey.

We want our families to know they are not alone. When we gather, we encourage one another, share our stories, and build the relationships God designed us to have.

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together… but encouraging one another.” — Hebrews 10:24-25

Thank you to our families for walking this journey with us. ❤️

“Stand aside for a while and leave room for learning.”
“The child has a hundred languages… a hundred ways of thinking, of playing, of speaking.”
“Our image of the child is rich in potential, strong, powerful, competent…” — Loris Malaguzzi, founder of the Reggio Emilia approach

Today looked like children testing theories, solving problems, collaborating, and learning through doing!
