FAFSA info:

This week:
The Student and ONE parent needs to create their own FAFSA accounts. Each need their own separate accounts.

Then beginning on Oct 1st the best and easiest way to complete the FAFSA (in this order below)

1. Student completes their sections first.
2. At the end of the student sections the student will invite a parent to complete their part.
3. Student enters parent email in and invites parent.
4. Parent will get the email link to do the parent half and it will all sync up together.

The FAFSA is the first step in trying to secure need based financial load.

STOP RIGHT THERE!

College admissions is nothing like it was back in the day. Everything has changed- A LOT!

Strategy, SAT scores, applications, essays, activities, letters of rec, college visits, college lists,etc. are way more important than anything you did 30 years ago.

Let a college counselor help you! Ask the school counselor to help you.

Don’t try to do this all on your own simply because you think you remember how you did back in the day.

If you have a high school senior who is applying to college this year- ask for help from your student’s high school counselor!

I’ve met with a bunch of families this week who are very confused, unfamiliar with how applying to college works, and simply have false information which is understandable.

The scary part is without my assistance these families are about to make some major mistakes that would impact college decisions, more importantly scholarships!

Ask questions from an expert - not from another parent who has equally bad information. If you have the means to hire someone like me, do it. I help take away the stress and confusion from the process.

I’m happy to answer questions here. At a minimum, meet with your students’s school counselor for free help.

Don’t try to do this all on your own. The college process has changed dramatically since you went to college.
