Summer reading season is here, and we're inviting students to "Catch the Reading Wave" through the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge!

From May 24 through Aug. 8, students can participate in weekly reading activities, complete fun challenges, explore new books, and stay engaged in learning all summer long. The program is designed to help students continue building strong reading habits while keeping literacy skills sharp during the summer break.

We're also excited to celebrate summer reading with kick-off parties across our community:

Sachse Public Library Summer Reading Kick-Off Party
Friday, May 29, 10 a.m.

Garland Library Summer Reading Kick-Off Party
Saturday, May 30, 10 a.m., Garland Central Library

City of Rowlett Public Library Summer Reading Kick-Off
Saturday, June 6, 11 a.m.

Students can also visit the Reading with Rodney Mobile Library throughout the summer at recreation centers across Garland to check out books and discover new favorites.

We encourage you to take advantage of additional programs and resources offered through the Garland Public Library, Rowlett Public Library, and Sachse Public Library.

Hey! We know her! Congratulations to Mrs. Brown on achieving her goal of becoming a principal. While it is bitter sweet for us, we are so proud of her and we know that she will do some amazing things as a principal.

We will be having Career Day today. We have a wide variety of speakers coming out to talk to students to share about their respective careers. As a part of this, we will have the Garland Police Department SWAT vehicle and Drone here today. We will also have the Garland Fire Department on site as well. So if you are driving by during the day today and you see Garland PD and Garland Fire here, please know that they are here for Career Day presenting to students.

Due to forecasted severe weather this afternoon and evening, please note the following updates regarding after-school activities and dismissal procedures:

After-school Outdoor Activities
All outdoor after-school activities scheduled during this time frame are canceled.

Indoor Activities
All indoor activities are canceled unless they cannot be rescheduled (e.g., banquets). For more information about specific events, please reach out to your campus. We will continue to monitor weather conditions closely and provide updates if any activities are delayed or canceled.

Dismissal
Dismissal times will remain as originally scheduled. There is no change to the standard dismissal process.

Board Meeting
The scheduled board meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, will proceed as planned, without student participation or recognitions.

Couch Collegiate Prep’s Senior Walk is on May 19th at 8:30 in the morning. We hope to see all of our graduating Comets there.

This week has been National Assistant Principals Week, and we have had a great time celebrating the one and only Mrs. Brown. Mrs. Brown does it all for our school from student management to testing to handling facility issues, you name it, she is always ready to jump right in!

We are incredibly lucky to be able to call Mrs. Brown a Couch Comet. We are all better because she is here. Thank you Mrs. Brown for all that you do for Couch each and every day! 💫
