This is what consistency sounds like 🎶

Mark has been training at VOCES for over a year, and his transformation has been extraordinary. Every note in this video reflects the work behind it: the repetition, the exploration, the setbacks, the breakthroughs—and the decision to keep showing up 🙌

At VOCES, we do not believe that talent determines how far an artist can go. We often remind our students that perhaps 10% of their growth comes from the guidance they receive from us; the other 90% happens in the practice room, through curiosity, discipline, and perseverance.

This Labor Day, we celebrate Mark, all our dedicated students, and the extraordinary VOCES faculty who guide, encourage, and invest in them every week. Much of their work may happen quietly and without immediate recognition, but it becomes the cornerstone upon which everything else is built 👏

Such a fun way to begin the semester at VOCES! 🎤✨

Last night we gathered for our first VOCES Karaoke Night of the semester, one of our favorite opportunities for 21+ students to bring what they have been working on in their voice lessons into a fun and supportive live performance setting 🎶

Some were performing at a VOCES social for the very first time, while others have become karaoke-night regulars because they already know how good these evenings are 😉 We loved watching every one of them take the stage, try something new, and cheer one another on!

We are especially proud of Freddy 🥹👏

After more than a year of working through stage fright and building his performance confidence, he took the microphone, connected with the audience, and had the entire room singing along with him! It was a huge step and such a beautiful moment for all of us to witness ❤️

Our faculty got in on the fun too! Priscilla, our Contemporary Commercial Music expert, and Dr. Santelices could not resist a spontaneous duet filled with harmonizing, improvising, and plenty of fun 🎤🎶

This is what we love about our VOCES community. The work begins in the voice studio, but these are the moments when our students trust that work, share their voices, and discover how much fun performing can be ✨

Una voz no tiene por qué vivir dentro de un solo género.

Aunque Alejandra ha estado desarrollando su técnica a través del canto clásico, ayer decidió llevar “Cucurrucucú Paloma” a su clase y cantarla por primera vez. La naturalidad, el color y la emoción con que la interpretó fueron sencillamente hermosos. ¡Qué emoción comenzar este semestre y trabajar con ella en un repertorio que también es nuestro!

En VOCES, todos los estilos son bienvenidos. Nos encanta trabajar con mariachi, música ranchera, balada, banda y otros repertorios latinoamericanos. Contamos con instructores que hablan español y que conocen no solo el idioma, sino también el estilo, la tradición y las exigencias vocales de esta música.

Porque la técnica no debe alejarnos de nuestra identidad. Debe darnos aún más libertad para expresarla.

Although Alejandra has been developing her technique through classical training, yesterday she decided to bring “Cucurrucucú Paloma” into her lesson and sing it for the first time. The natural color, emotion, and sincerity of her interpretation were simply beautiful. We are so excited to begin this semester and explore repertoire with her that is also part of our own story.

At VOCES, every style is welcome. We love working with mariachi, ranchera, ballads, banda, and other Latin American repertoire. Our Spanish-speaking instructors understand not only the language, but also the style, tradition, and vocal demands behind this music.

Because technique should never separate us from our identity. It should give us even greater freedom to express it.

Your voice deserves a specialist, not a one-size-fits-all lesson.

At VOCES Academy of the Arts, every instructor holds an M.M. in Vocal Performance or higher. Our students receive personalized, science-based training designed around their individual voices, experience, and goals.

We welcome children, teens, and adults at every stage. In fact, many of our students are adults who are singing for the first time, returning after years away, or continuing serious artistic training.

Because growth should extend beyond the lesson room, VOCES students also enjoy two main concerts each year, community events, and special 21+ karaoke nights. These experiences build confidence, create connection, and give every singer meaningful opportunities to be heard.

Private voice lessons are available in person in Garland, Texas, and online from anywhere.

Today, we celebrate freedom, creativity, and the many voices that help shape our nation.

As artists, we are reminded that expression matters, that every voice carries meaning, and that beauty can bring people together across backgrounds and experiences.

May this day be filled with gratitude, joy, and a renewed appreciation for the freedom to create, to share, and to be heard.

✨ What a way to close the first half of the year! ✨

Yesterday we celebrated our VOCES Mid-Year Concert at Kawai Piano Gallery in Plano, Texas, and our hearts are so full 🎶

This is what VOCES is all about: different voices, different stories, different ages, different backgrounds, and different musical dreams, all coming together in one space 💕

From classical voice and musical theatre to pop, rancheras, mariachi, and more, our students reminded us that there is no single path to becoming an artist. Every singer brought something honest, personal, and beautiful to the stage 👏

Some performed for the first time. Some returned with more confidence. Some surprised themselves. And all of them showed what happens when hard work, courage, and love for music come together ❤️

To our students: we are so proud of you. Thank you for trusting the process, showing up, doing the work, and sharing your voice with us ☺️

To the families and friends who came to support: thank you. Your presence, applause, and encouragement mean more than you know 🙏

Thank you to Kawai Piano Gallery for opening your doors to VOCES and giving our artists such a beautiful space to perform 🎹 and to our collaborative pianist, Mr. Alex Wong, for making our singers feel comfortable and supported 🙌

Today, we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures who fill our lives with love, strength, sacrifice, and endless encouragement. 💐

At VOCES Academy of the Arts, we are constantly reminded of the healing power of music and how singing can become one of the greatest gifts we give ourselves and others. A voice carries emotion, memory, comfort, joy, and connection. Whether it’s singing to your children, sharing music with loved ones, or simply finding a moment to breathe and express yourself through song, music has the power to heal the heart in ways words sometimes cannot.

Find your true voice at VOCES Academy of the Arts. 🎶

We are now welcoming new students for Initial Vocal Assessments during the month of May. This is the perfect time to begin, especially for singers who want to experience our studio in June before our July studio break.

At VOCES, singers receive personalized, evidence-based training from active teaching-artists who understand both the stage and the studio. Whether you are preparing for auditions, building confidence, developing your technique, returning to singing, or simply ready to take your voice seriously, your journey begins with an Initial Vocal Assessment.

During your assessment, Dr. José Miguel Santelices will listen to your voice, evaluate your current strengths and needs, and recommend the best next steps for your training.

Private voice lessons, performance coaching, audition preparation, diction, and artist mentorship are available in person in Garland and online.

Initial Vocal Assessment fee and monthly tuition apply. Limited May availability.
