Today, we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures who fill our lives with love, strength, sacrifice, and endless encouragement. 💐

At VOCES Academy of the Arts, we are constantly reminded of the healing power of music and how singing can become one of the greatest gifts we give ourselves and others. A voice carries emotion, memory, comfort, joy, and connection. Whether it’s singing to your children, sharing music with loved ones, or simply finding a moment to breathe and express yourself through song, music has the power to heal the heart in ways words sometimes cannot.

To all the incredible mothers in our community, thank you for inspiring, supporting, and nurturing the voices around you every day. We wish you a beautiful Mother’s Day filled with love, peace, laughter, and music. 🌷🎶

With love,
VOCES Academy of the Arts

Find your true voice at VOCES Academy of the Arts. 🎶

We are now welcoming new students for Initial Vocal Assessments during the month of May. This is the perfect time to begin, especially for singers who want to experience our studio in June before our July studio break.

At VOCES, singers receive personalized, evidence-based training from active teaching-artists who understand both the stage and the studio. Whether you are preparing for auditions, building confidence, developing your technique, returning to singing, or simply ready to take your voice seriously, your journey begins with an Initial Vocal Assessment.

During your assessment, Dr. José Miguel Santelices will listen to your voice, evaluate your current strengths and needs, and recommend the best next steps for your training.

Private voice lessons, performance coaching, audition preparation, diction, and artist mentorship are available in person in Garland and online.

Initial Vocal Assessment fee and monthly tuition apply. Limited May availability.

Some kids ask for toys… Luna asks for a stage ✨

At just 8 years old, she asks her parents every Sunday to take her to a mariachi restaurant so she can sing for a live audience. And when she steps up, she owns the room 🙌

Here she is performing Los Laureles 🌹

youngest star in the making 🎶

A wonderful weekend at the Spring 2026 DFW NATS competition for singers from VOCES Academy of the Arts ✨

Congratulations to our studio winners:

Nathan Sisombath, tenor — 1st Place, Commercial Music Adult - Avocational 🥇
Michael Solares, bass-baritone — 1st Place, Classical Music Adult - Avocational 🥇

And an honorable mention to Mark Pedersen, baritone, who represented the studio beautifully 🎶

We are incredibly proud of the dedication, preparation, and artistry these singers brought to the stage. Opportunities like the NATS auditions allow performers to grow, gain experience, and share their voices with the broader musical community.

Congratulations to all participants and teachers involved. It is always inspiring to see singers continue developing their craft 🙌

Faculty Spotlight: Priscilla López-Lemoine

At VOCES Academy of the Arts, we are intentional about who represents our pedagogical standards — and we are proud to spotlight Priscilla López-Lemoine, a dedicated voice educator with nearly two decades of experience guiding singers of all ages and levels.

Priscilla brings both academic depth and practical expertise to her teaching. With a BFA in Music from Texas Woman’s University and a Master of Music from Southern Methodist University, she also holds certification in all three levels of the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah Conservatory — one of the most respected contemporary commercial music training programs in the country.

Her work reflects the same evidence-based technical framework that defines VOCES: clarity of function, healthy vocal production, and artistic authenticity.

Priscilla currently has a limited number of lesson openings available. As with all of our faculty, her studio typically fills quickly — we encourage families and singers interested in working with her to schedule an Initial Vocal Assessment soon to secure placement.

Discover your true voice.

As the year comes to a close, our hearts are full. Last week, our students brought their voices—and their generous spirits—to Silver Creek Assisted Living for a holiday recital we offered as a gift to their residents. There is no better way to end the year than by sharing music with those who feel it most deeply, and watching our singers shine in service of community and joy. They carried the warmth of the season onto the stage with sincerity, artistry, and care, reminding us all that singing is never just performance—it is connection, light, and presence ✨

To every student who prepared, practiced, and performed with intention, thank you 👏 You made this season brighter, kinder, and unforgettable. Your voices truly blossomed this year, and we are endlessly proud of you. May this Christmas Eve be gentle, warm, and filled with love, laughter, and music.
