βοΈ Summer of Learning, Growing, and Leading! ππ
This summer, the Garland ISD Student Nutrition team invested in professional growth through a variety of learning opportunities designed to strengthen our programs and better serve our students.
From the TASN Manager's Academy, where our managers sharpened their leadership, operational, and customer service skills, to the Texas Association for School Nutrition (TASN) Annual Conference, where we explored the latest trends, regulations, and innovations in school nutrition, our team has been committed to learning every step of the way.
Our summer concluded at the School Nutrition Association's Annual National Conference (ANC), where we connected with school nutrition professionals from across the country, discovered new products and ideas, and gained fresh inspiration to enhance the student dining experience.
Every class attended, every idea shared, and every connection made helps us continue our mission of serving nutritious, high-quality meals with excellence. We can't wait to bring what we've learned back to our cafeterias and make the 2026β2027 school year our best yet!
π Here's to a summer of learning, growing, and fueling student success!

ππ§ Flavor Meets Hydration! π§πΏ
Garland ISD Student Nutrition Services was excited to partner with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and Garland Parks and Recreation to host a fun and interactive hydration event focused on healthy beverage choices and fresh produce!
Community members tasted a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs while learning how staying hydrated supports overall health, energy, and wellness. From refreshing pineapple, ginger and mint combinations to sparkling strawberry, lemon and basil, everyone discovered new ways to make water their beverage of choice.
This event also highlighted the importance of incorporating locally grown produce into our daily routines and showed how simple ingredients can add flavor without added sugars.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating healthy hydration and fresh flavors! ππ₯πΏπ¦π«

πππ₯ Learning from the source: A ranch tour experience
Garland ISD Nutrition Services recently had the privilege to join school nutrition professionals from districts across North Texas for an educational tour of Cox Ranch in Poolville, Texas, hosted in partnership with the Texas Beef Council and Don Lee Farms.
The day provided a unique opportunity to learn about the ranch's focus on breeding high-quality Black Angus cattle, including the use of advanced breeding practices such as artificial insemination and genetic selection. We gained valuable insight into cattle care, ranch management, and the work that goes into producing quality beef.
One of the highlights of the visit was a Grilling 101 session led by the TX Beef Council, where participants learned proper grilling techniques, food safety tips, and best practices for preparing beef. We then put our new skills to work by grilling our own steaks for lunchβa memorable and delicious hands-on experience!
It was also a great opportunity to network and collaborate with school nutrition leaders from across the state while learning more about the agricultural partners that help support school meal programs.
A special thank you to Cox Ranch, Texas Beef Council, Beef Loving Texans and Don Lee Foods, teams for an informative and engaging day filled with learning, collaboration, and great food.
