White Cobra Muay Thai

Just received that sad news that my Judo instructor and good friend Grandmaster Bert Beccera passed away.

I trained for some time with him in. Judo only getting to green belt before my shoulder decided I couldn’t do it anymore at the time. We became good friends and I helped with a lot of behind the scenes things for his school.

Eventually he allowed me to use his school for my Muay Thai classes where we trained for years moving out of my backyard and into a more official capacity.

He was a booming loud personality that was funny and abrasive but in the best possible way. He ran a great school and trained Judo champions that will forever carry on his legacy.

R.I.P. my friend

11 years ago after training Muay Thai in Bangkok, Thailand under Master Toddy I received my Kru certification. Upon my return I decided to expand my martial arts classes and created White Cobra Muay Thai.

The first few years I ran out of my house in the backyard with a great group of people that all trained hard no matter the weather and cemented the class family to grow.

A few years later my Judo master and friend Humberto Becerra gave me the chance to move my class into his Judo school for classes and we have been there ever since.

Today after 10 years of classes I have officially ended White Cobra Muay Thai. As sad as I am this is also allowing me to have my Sundays free again and an actual day of the week off for the first time in 10 years.

Big thanks to all my students over the years in both this class and the TKD classes that trained with me over the years and allowed us to not only grow but have great training and more importantly some forever relationships.

While I will miss the class have no fear, White Cobra Muay Thai isn’t completely dead…..

Today I kicked off a new Muay Thai cardio class at Granger in Garland. It’s a day tine class from 12:00-12:45 on Thursdays.

The cost is $35 per month and is more of a cardio and strength workout using the principals and techniques of Muay Thai.
