Garland ISD Communications is looking for student volunteers to join our GISD Talent Team for the upcoming school year! Students selected may be featured in GISD marketing materials, including photos, videos, promotions, and other district communications.

By filling out the form, your child will be considered for our annual photoshoot. The Talent Team is open to all students who will be enrolled in a GISD school during the 2026-2027 school year.

Parents, we kindly ask that you only complete the form if your student(s) are willing and excited to participate. Please also note that not all submissions will be selected.

Summer Reading is HERE in Garland ISD!

All GISD Kindergarten through 3rd grade students received books to take home for the summer to build a home library - and the best part is they got to self-select from amazing titles they were excited to read!

Our goal is to keep students reading, learning, and growing all summer long while helping foster a lifelong love of reading.

As the school year came to a close, some of our educators and staff also closed a special chapter at Garland ISD. Today, we celebrate those who dedicated countless years of service to our students, campuses, and district.

Thank you for the lasting impact you made in classrooms, hallways, and throughout our community. Your dedication, passion, and commitment helped shape generations of students, and Garland ISD is better because of you.

Summer reading season is here, and we're inviting students to "Catch the Reading Wave" through the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge!

From May 24 through Aug. 8, students can participate in weekly reading activities, complete fun challenges, explore new books, and stay engaged in learning all summer long. The program is designed to help students continue building strong reading habits while keeping literacy skills sharp during the summer break.

We're also excited to celebrate summer reading with kick-off parties across our community:

Garland Library Summer Reading Kick-Off Party
Saturday, May 30, 10 a.m., Garland Central Library

City of Rowlett Public Library Summer Reading Kick-Off
Saturday, June 6, 11 a.m.

Students can also visit the Reading with Rodney Mobile Library throughout the summer at recreation centers across Garland to check out books and discover new favorites.

We encourage you to take advantage of additional programs and resources offered through the Garland Public Library, Rowlett Public Library, and Sachse Public Library.

Our Garland ISD Student Nutrition Services’ Chef Kevin will be demonstrating kid-friendly food and you’ll be able to learn about our free Summer Meals Program! ♥️

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

And just like that, it's the end of an era!

We also congratulate all GISD Pre-K students heading to Kindergarten next school year. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish!
