Okay, I get it. We are an intelligent people. We have become equipped with much of the information that seemed hidden for many years. Now that we know, what are we going to do? Our children continue to lag behind in education. How are we going to prepare them for the days ahead? It’s time to take what we know and invest in our children.

Many parents throughout the country are now aware that the American educational system is broken. At one time, this was a problem that black and brown children were faced with. Now, we see Americans from all walks of life, shocked and dismayed with the current state of education. Does this mean that all teachers are bad and don't care about our children? My answer is emphatically no! I believe there are great teachers that are equally as frustrated with the current state of education. Do we blame the teachers for a system that was broken when they got there? Do we continue to beg and plead from a system that has never heard or responded to our cries? Do we continue to blindly send our children to schools hoping that they are being properly educated and prepared for the future? Do we continue to pray that next year will be better? Do we continue to wait for our child to get it? Do we continue to celebrate being promoted although our children are grade levels behind or ill-equipped to compete in the real world with the peers? As parents, these are all questions that we must ponder. The days of sending our children off to school with little parental involvement are gone. We must begin to become knowledgable about what our children need and seek help and resources. We must pool our resources and come together to ensure that our children are properly educated.

For years, I worried about not being perfect. I didn’t have perfect grammar, I didn’t look the part. I was a young black girl from the hood. I just wasn’t perfect enough to be an educator. Then, I realized God didn’t choose me to fit in. He chose me because I was different. He chose me because I understood the students and families that I desired to serve. I soon realized that my families didn’t expect perfection. In fact, they saw be as real, honest and relatable. I was their sister and their friend. They saw the quality of my heart. They saw my desire and passion to see our children educated. I have had the gift of educating not only my children but countless children all over the globe. Now, I want to help parents and educators do what I have done for almost 20 years. Stay tuned, big things are happening.

Greetings everyone! Many of you are considering homeschooling this fall. As a mom that has homeschooled for over 15 years, I'd like to be a resource to help you through the homeschool process. We've recently started a co-op in the city of
Garfield, New Jersey. However, all are welcome to join.
We will host our first zoom meeting this evening, providing a brief overview of homeschooling and answering questions. If you are interested, please comment "co-op" below for the link.

This article was so powerful. So many of our children are struggling to read and instead of receiving the appropriate help, they are labeled as the class clown, the trouble maker, add, adhd and list goes on. It’s up to us to save our children!

As a young boy, I wasn’t a bad person. I feared going into the classroom because I couldn’t read. Had someone intervened in third or

I'm so excited! For years, I have desired to create something for black children as I understand the importance of children seeing themselves in the material they read. With all that is going on in the world, I have been inspired to personally write each passage in this workbook specifically for the black child.

This book will help develop and build fluent, confident readers and instill pride in our young children. Each passage is designed to uplift our children as well as develop the skill of becoming a fluent reader. Every young black child should have this workbook! Hiring a tutor should be approached in the same manner as hiring any other professional. Ask questions, look carefully at references, and use your instinct as to whether this tutor is a good fit for your child.
