There will be plenty of cookouts this 4th of July weekend! Nearly 850 grilling-related fires were reported in Massachusetts over the past 10 years, accounting for 32 injuries to firefighters and residents, as well as more than $8 million in damages. If you're grilling with friends, family, or neighbors then please do it safely: Only grill outdoors, keep it at least 10' from any buildings, and never on a porch, balcony, or fire escape. Dangerous heat arrives today and will last through the July Fourth holiday. With high humidity, it will feel like over 100 degrees in many parts of Massachusetts. 🌡️

Follow these safety tips:

• Try to avoid spending time outdoors in the afternoons, when temperatures will be highest. ☀️
• Wear light-weight, light-colored clothing. 👕
• Stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade. 🌳
• Know the signs of heat-related illness and call 911 for emergencies. ☎️
• Never leave pets or children alone in a vehicle. 🚗

If you don't have air conditioning at home, check with local officials or call Mass211 to find available cooling centers.

Relay for Life Parking & Traffic Changes for Friday June 12th and Saturday June 13th

To accommodate the needs of this event the following changes will take place:

*Gate 3 entrance will be closed from approximately 8am Friday June 12th until the end of the event on Saturday June 13th 2 pm.

*All traffic will enter/exit via Matthews Street or the Gate 1 main entrance off of Green Street.

*Visitor parking in front of the Main Building entrance (flag poles side) will be closed.
