Falcon Flash

There was plenty of excitement Monday morning at Gardner Valley School as students arrived to discover something they had been eagerly awaiting: a brand-new swing set!
From kindergarten through eighth grade, students were excited to see the new playground addition and take their first turns on the swings. The new equipment quickly became the talk of the school, and it was clear from the beginning just how popular it would be.
All week long, students have been lining up for their turn, patiently waiting for a spot to open up. Recess has taken on a whole new level of excitement as students race outside to enjoy their newest playground feature.
For a small school, additions like this mean a lot. The new swing set provides students of all ages with another opportunity to play, get outside, spend time with friends and simply enjoy being kids.
The project was made possible through funds raised during the GVS Color Run, along with generous support from the Gardner School Foundation. The school is incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make the new playground addition possible.
A special thank-you goes to our custodial crew: Rick Gonzales, Daniel Rodriguez, and local contractor and GVS friend, Barry Rauber, for their hard work installing the swing set and getting it ready for students to enjoy.
The school would also like to extend a huge thank-you to Luke Vargas, Last Chance Trucking, who hauled a semi-load of gravel to the school at no cost. While the school purchased the gravel itself, Luke generously donated the trucking, saving the school an additional expense and helping make the project possible.
The smiles, laughter and ever-present line of students waiting for a turn have made it clear: the new swing set is already a hit at Gardner Valley School!
It may be just a swing set, but for the students of Gardner Valley, it’s a pretty big deal — and thanks to the generosity, hard work and support of our community, our students now have a new place to play, laugh and make memories together.
