Dear Helen Thompson School Families,
I am excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Helen Thompson School. Over the past few weeks, I've had the opportunity to learn more about our school, meet members of the MSAD #11 team, and begin getting to know the West Gardiner community. Every conversation has made me even more excited to become part of the Helen Thompson School family.
A little bit about me… this year marks my 26th year in education and my 12th year as a school administrator. I've had the privilege of working with students from pre-kindergarten through college, and no matter the role, my favorite part has always been getting to know students and the families who support them. Outside of school, I'm a lifelong Mainer who lives in Vassalboro with my husband and our family. I enjoy gardening, flowers, reading, photography, and traveling.
What I'm looking forward to most is getting to know the students, families, and staff who make Helen Thompson School such a special place. I love learning students' names, visiting classrooms, celebrating their successes, and helping them through challenges. I also believe the strongest schools are built on strong partnerships with families and I look forward to working together to help your child learn, grow, and feel they belong.
I'd also like to invite you to Popsicles with the Principal on Tuesday, August 11, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. The Helen Thompson PTG will be hosting this fun event, along with a PTG meeting. I hope you'll stop by to enjoy a popsicle, take a minute to meet me, learn more about the PTG, and say hello to fellow families. It will be a wonderful opportunity for us to connect before the school year begins.

Note that the school office will reopen on Tuesday, August 11 and we will be available to answer calls at that time.
