Hypoxico Altitude Training

Hypoxico Altitude Training Hypoxico was established in 1995 and has been the worldwide leader in altitude training technologies. Message us today to learn more about altitude training.

Altitude training, also known as hypoxic training, involves exercising in, living in or otherwise breathing oxygen reduced air for the purpose of improved athletic performance, pre-acclimatization to altitude and/or physical wellness. Traditionally, individuals had to travel to or live at high elevations to obtain the benefits of this phenomenon. Circa 1995, the patented technology of Hypoxico Inc

. eliminated this hardship by allowing high altitude training facilities to be set up anywhere. Through the production of normobaric hypoxic (oxygen reduced) air, we can simulate altitudes of up to 21,000ft/6,400m. As a result, athletes, fitness enthusiasts and health conscious individuals worldwide can take advantage of the benefits associated with altitude training while at sea-level.

Not coming off a record-setting run at Tahoe 200 slowing him down one bit. 🏔️

Congrats to Aaron Kubala on winning the 2026 Bigfoot 200 in 47:21:11 — back-to-back 200-mile wins this summer and now setting his sights on Moab 240 in October to complete the Triple Crown.

Aaron is just a special human. We could not be happier for him. 🙌

Later this week, we are sharing an interview we did with Aaron — stay tuned. You do not want to miss it.

way to go. 🔥

Denali. 17,000 feet. And Brandon Bargo slept like it was nothing.

Brandon, you know him from The Highpointers with the Bargo Brothers, is chasing the highest point in every state, faster than anyone in history. Denali was stop one: the coldest, most technical mountain on the whole list.

Here's the part that'll get you (it didn't get us): before he ever touched the mountain, Brandon pre-acclimatized at home, sleeping in a Hypoxico altitude tent for weeks so his body was already up there before he was.

👇👇The Full Story👇👇

He'd climbed Denali before, the hard way. This time, he actually slept at 17,000 feet like it was any other night.

Record-chasing highpointer Brandon Bargo and filmmaker Chris Carter used Hypoxico altitude tents to pre-acclimatize for Denali — and cut their summit time nearly in half.

Quick question for the endurance crowd and coaches here:

If you could add altitude training to your program without relocating to a mountain town or booking a 3‑week camp, would you do it?

Simulated altitude solutions — rooms, tents, and mask systems — make it possible to get the same core benefits of traditional altitude camps (higher VO2 max, increased total hemoglobin mass, better performance at elevation) inside a home gym, university lab, or team facility.

Curious where you’re at:
→Already using altitude
→Want to, but don’t have access yet
→Still on the fence

75 hours of sleeping at simulated altitude cuts your AMS risk by ~50%.

200 hours? That's where the real adaptation happens.

And you can hit it in about a month — sleeping in a Hypoxico tent for 7-8 hours a night.

No flights. No altitude camps. Just your bed, your tent, and the science working while you sleep.

The mountain doesn't know how hard you trained. But your body does.

Every night in the tent is one more night of adaptation. More red blood cells. Better oxygen delivery. A body that's already been to altitude before you ever leave home.

That's the edge. That's Hypoxico.

The Tour de France makes the headlines in July, but the real work starts months earlier — at altitude.

A recent The Athletic deep dive showed how many of the race’s top GC contenders now spend weeks in high mountain ranges, living and training between roughly 1,600–2,500m to arrive with boosted aerobic capacity and higher total hemoglobin mass. It’s become such an advantage that some voices in the sport are even asking whether altitude training should be restricted.

The physiology is straightforward: more time in thin air → more red blood cells → better oxygen delivery when the race hits the big climbs day after day. The question isn’t whether altitude works; it’s how you access it.

Simulated altitude systems like Hypoxico let cyclists and endurance athletes tap into the same adaptation pathway at home or in existing training facilities, without relocating entire teams to mountain camps.

Every May, many of the world's top cyclists decamp to a lonely mountain range in southern Spain. The Athletic went along to observe

We’re grateful to live and work in a country where people can chase big goals on their own terms—whether that’s running 100 miles, climbing high peaks, serving their communities, or building small businesses that support all of the above.

Hypoxico exists because athletes, guides, coaches, researchers, veterans, and everyday mountain-town locals believed there was a better way to prepare for hard things. That community is what keeps this all moving.

Happy 4th of July to everyone putting in quiet work, supporting others, and helping this place feel a little stronger every year. 🇺🇸

Altitude sickness ruins more trips than bad weather. Five common signs of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) you shouldn’t ignore:

âžťPersistent headache
âžťNausea or reduced appetite
âžťDizziness or lightheadedness
âžťUnusual fatigue on simple tasks
âžťTrouble sleeping at altitude

You can’t eliminate the risk completely, but pre‑acclimatization with simulated altitude at home can significantly reduce how hard that first jump to 8,000–12,000 ft hits your system. It’s one of the best ways to protect the time and money you invest in big trips.
