The Runoko Rashidi Institute has created a new focus where we will spotlight partners, volunteers and everyday people who are putting forth exemplary effort to uplift the memory of Dr. Rashidi, and to continue his legacy in some very meaningful way.

We are calling this focus "Runoko's Legacy Warriors," and we'll feature these write-ups from time to time in our newsletters and distribute through our social media channels. This is our way of expressing to them our sincere gratitude and what they mean to our organization.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in supporting our very first children’s program, “Around the World with Runoko Rashidi.” It was a truly wonderful presentation and an inspiring event.

Bring your young learner on an exciting virtual adventure! Designed for elementary‑age children, this interactive session explores the global travels and discoveries of Dr. Runoko Rashidi.
Created by experienced educators Amoyee Neblett and Tarik Wallace, this program blends learning, culture, and fun for the whole family.

All tickets are FREE! So, reserve a ticket for you and your child, or reserve multiple tickets for multiple children to enjoy the experience together. Families may also choose to reserve a single ticket for the household, allowing children and their trusted adult to participate as a group.

Give your child a chance to learn, explore, and connect with the world—right from home!

* Requires a parent or adult helper to accompany the child.

NOTE: The session will be recorded with the spotlight focused on the moderator and presenters for most of the session. You are free to turn off your camera.

This month, BHM 2026, the RRI will be focusing on some of our Master Scholars. Dr. Rashidi once said, "I had good teachers and mentors. Here are four of my favorites--Dr. Ben, John G. Jackson, Ivan Van Sertima and John Henrik Clarke."

As part of our contribution to this historically significant month, each week we will be releasing information write-ups on each of these master teachers, featuring Dr. Rashidi's own words or reflections, here on this page and through our social media channels.

For Black History Month 2026, we are introducing a new focus dedicated to one of our most important audiences: our children. Children held a very special place in Dr. Rashidi’s heart, and in honor of that legacy, we are launching a new ongoing campaign called “Children’s Corner” which will soon be added to our website.

The Children’s Corner will offer fun lessons, activities, and virtual learning experiences designed to spark curiosity, challenge young minds, and strengthen comprehension. We are launching this in February because Dr. Rashidi made a special effort to reach out to elementary and high school youth during this month. Therefore, we are carving out a special place just for them—one that nurtures learning, creativity, and confidence.

Toward this purpose, we are holding our inaugural children's event on Saturday, 2/21st on Zoom. The event is free, with lesson plan and presentation developed by educators Amoye Neblett and Tarik Wallace. Additional information is provided on the flyer, below.
