Drop. Cover. Hold On.
The Region South office joined our schools and millions of people worldwide for the Great ShakeOut. They practiced the steps that can save lives when an earthquake strikes.

In Southern California, earthquakes are part of life. Knowing what to do when the ground starts shaking can make all the difference.

A few minutes of effort today can help our school communities respond with confidence when it matters most.

As El Niño season approaches, keeping our students, staff and school communities safe is at the heart of our preparations. Our teams are working together to care for campuses and prepare for storm-related needs.

Our Maintenance & Operations teams are focused on:

✅ Prioritizing roof repairs and preventing water intrusion.
✅ Staging sandbags where needed.
✅ Preparing equipment and supplies for quick response.
✅ Coordinating support for schools during and after storms.
✅ Bringing in contractors and vendors when extra help is needed.
✅ Addressing storm impacts so students and staff can safely return to their routines.

Our Enhanced Emergency Preparedness Protocols help guide this work—from monitoring weather alerts and securing outdoor items to preparing indoor spaces, protecting school resources and keeping evacuation routes clear. We’re also focused on keeping families informed and checking campuses for hazards after storms.

Together, we’re preparing for changing weather while keeping our school communities at the center of everything we do.
