Student Trustees from Across Southern California Gather at Mt. San Jacinto College Mt. San Jacinto College hosted a meeting of the California Community College Association of Student Trustees (CCCAST) on October 15, 2013. Nine community college student trustees from southern California attended the meeting held at the Menifee Valley Campus and one attended via teleconference.

Hi CCCAST Family!

As you know, our Fantastic President, Erik Vorsatz, is coming down from Yosemite to the southern region. We are going to be having a CCCAST Meeting on Tuesday, October 15, at 7:30pm. I am thrilled that the meeting will be taking place at Mt. San Jacinto College.
I will be opening the room about 6:45 so feel free to arrive Early!

Location: MSJC Menifee Campus: 28237 La Piedra Rd., Menifee, CA 92584.
Room: 805-located in 800 building (Also labeled LRC). This is downstairs.
The Menifee campus is located just off the 215 Freeway between Newport and Scott.

There is parking in front of the 800 Building. I would advise all vehicles to stop at one of the automated kiosks to purchase a temporary parking permit for the evening-They are only a dollar or two. Visitor parking is limited to 30 minutes and our Campus Police are pretty vigilant about parking stickers/permits. There is also the option of parking along any street without a permit.

Also, for any of you that smoke, MSJC has gone completely non-smoking so make sure you get that taken care of before you drive onto MSJC property in order to avoid any potential fines.

This is going to be a terrific meeting so I hope as many of you come out as possible!
It is rare that a bunch of us have the opportunity to get together. I look forward to seeing you all.

Menifee Valley Campus From the 215, take the Newport Road off-ramp, go east to Antelope Road and turn south. The campus is located at the corner of Antelope and La Piedra Roads.

Congratulations everyone! AB 1358 passed the senate today! Will you call your ASSEMBLY person and ask them to SUPPORT AB 1358 today and tomorrow?

And VOTE NO on AB 955!

ASSEMBLY Vote will be on Wednesday!

CCCAST has been working tirelessly to stop a bill that will affect every California Community College student. I am asking for you to call any, and all Senators on the appropriations committee and urge them to vote No on AB 955. It will be heard this Friday! I just did this myself and it took only 7 minutes to call all the Senators!

Summary: AB 955, allows community colleges to raise tuition during their shorter intersessions — in the summer and over winter break — from $46 per unit to about $200 per unit.

This is a problem because it will make college unaffordable for some, while favoring other students whom are able to afford to pay.
