Hannah Jones-Ohmar - B.M. Violin Performance and Music Education
Teaching: Violin, Viola, Chamber Music, Music Theory, Music History, and Composition

Hannah's passion for the violin began when she first saw her grandmother’s instrument at the age of five; she was fascinated and asked her parents for a violin for Christmas, and lessons followed a few months later. Since then, she has studied privately with Linda Montgomery, Judy Rich, Professor Noemy Wheeler, Tim McMurray, Dr. JinHee Kim, and Dr. I-Ting Huang.

She played first violin in the Utah Youth Philharmonic for five seasons under Barbara Scowcroft. In 2016, Hannah had the opportunity to play as concertmaster in a side-by-side concert with the Utah Symphony. The study of unedited classical works by prominent composers and the opportunities to perform in premier concert halls with professional musicians were instrumental in her decision to pursue a career in music.

Hannah began teaching at the age of fourteen and has discovered her passion for bringing music to the next generation.

"Music is powerful, and everyone should have access to music education."

Hannah’s passion for music doesn’t end with the violin; she has performed on French horn and trombone in various ensembles. While at CBU, Hannah studied piano with Dr. Jennifer Cruz and composition under Dr. Joshua Rodriguez. One of her compositions, “Dreams” for a mixed ensemble premiered at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival in 2019.

While not making music, Hannah enjoys rock climbing, hiking, knitting, and spending time with her friends and family.
