Our Second Grade handwork display celebrates that knitting is so much more than a craft. As students count stitches, recognize patterns, strengthen coordination, solve problems, and persevere through challenges, they're building math skills, focus, confidence, and resilience. Their completed projects reflect the joy of creating with their own hands and the many ways handwork nurtures the whole child.

May the Class of 2026 carry with them the creativity, curiosity, and compassion that have been nurtured through their years at The Waldorf School of Garden City. We hope they carry with them the words of the song our community shared at the final assembly, a blessing for the road ahead:
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the rain fall softly on your field.
And until we meet again...
Congratulations, graduates! Wherever the road leads, know that we will always hold you in the palm of our hands.

The last week of school was filled with fun, movement, and laughter as our students competed in Play Day and Field Day activities. From circle dodgeball and capture to flag to relay races, students spent their final days of school making memories. A joyful celebration and the perfect way to close out the school year!

Newsday recently took a closer look at The Waldorf School of Garden City and why families are increasingly seeking educational experiences that prioritize creativity, connection, and hands-on learning over technology infused classrooms.
“We still understand technology and know how to use it, but...we’re using it to aid us, not completely do the work for us.” Arnav Kohli, Class of 2026.
We are grateful to Newsday for capturing the conversations, classrooms, and community behind our media mindful philosophy.
The Waldorf School of Garden City is (nearly) tech-free. Here's how it works.
Students do not use computers in class until sixth grade and there are no smart boards offered until seventh grade. Educators even withhold calculators until ninth grade.

At The Waldorf School of Garden City, we believe childhood is a time for hands-on exploration, meaningful human connection, and deep engagement with the world around us. We are honored to be part of the growing conversation about helping children develop a healthy relationship with technology and are proud to have been recently featured in Newsday in the article, "The Waldorf School of Garden City is (nearly) tech-free. Here's how it works."
