Great classes tonight! Join us every Tuesday and Thursday night at The Farm and learn how to dance salsa! Doors open at 7. Class starts at 7:15.

At Boise Salsa we're all about trying to raise the level of our dance community and help people have more enjoyable social dances. One of the issues we see all the time on the dance floor is disconnection that happens when people travel too far away from their partners, especially during turns.

Followers: this is usually the result of taking big steps when the leader isn’t asking you to. Don’t make the leader spend the whole dance chasing you! This isn’t enjoyable for them and doesn’t allow them to lead interesting moves.

Leaders: for your part, stop giving followers the impulse to move away from you in their turns. And when you’re doing your own turns, don’t take big steps away from your follower.

Cross body lead inside and outside turns involve some travel for the follower, but the goal is not for them to travel!

Leaders, don’t think about making your followers travel. Instead, think about turning your follower in place and keeping them connected to you. Followers: think about turning in place, spotting your leader, and finding your leader immediately as you finish the turn.

This will allow you to have more effortless and enjoyable dances and it will keep you from crashing into other people on the dance floor as well. Practice this technique with us when you see us on the dance floor!

There's a new on2 ladies salsa team starting in May. Practices will be 1 hour a week led by Frida Moses via zoom, with intensive in person training from Frida every 2 months. Frida will be here in person for the first meeting. More details here: https://square.link/u/jWvExtAL

We had a great workshop this weekend with Frida Moses from LA! The body movement and ladies styling classes were challenging, while the partnerwork intensive was more focussed on fundamentals that are so important for social dancing. Thanks to everyone who participated and to The Farm for your continued support! We love to see our community continue to grow!

Our Tuesday night beginners salsa class at The Farm is getting so good! We have so much fun and people are learning so much! Plus, in addition to Paul, we now have Isiah co-teaching all the classes. 🔥🔥 And when students get comfortable dancing their On2 basic steps, they can progress into our Thursday class and start refing their technique.
