Jennifer Ann Beer Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is a memorial to the beautiful and kind Jenny Beer, class of '90 GCHS (Michigan).

The Jennifer Ann Beer Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a member of the graduating class of Garden City High School (Michigan) who:
-attended GCHS for 3 years
-has a 2.5 or higher GPA
-is a track or cross-country athlete
-demonstrates good character
-is enrolled in a four-year college
-participates in a variety of high school activities

Big thanks to everyone who helped make yesterday another successful fundraiser, especially April Bauer, Michele Tyree, Carol Pomroy, Janet Cook, my hubby James, and Sharon Faulkner for helping me man the bake sale. And extra special thanks to my amazing partners in baking JoAnn Brewer Keenan, Kim Troutt, Bill Sellers, Dakota Samborski and Carol Pomroy. Together we raised $1,625.08 yesterday and also filled a huge bag of shoes for ! I am told another $300 donation will also be sent! And big shout out to for donating water! We also got a nice surprise visit from former scholarship recipient Kaitlyn Bourque which made the day extra special!!!

I received this very sweet and thoughtful letter a few weeks ago from the latest recipient of the Jennifer Ann Beer Scholarship. I emailed her to make sure it was okay to share it and she responded saying she would be honored, so here it is! Big thanks to everyone who helps keep the scholarship going, not only for the benefit of the students, but also for keeping the memory Jenny alive! 🥰

Big thanks to everyone who contributed to the GotSneakers sneaker drive and also to everyone who donates through shopping at Kroger! The sneaker drive has earned $43 so far and I have another bag of shoes to send in still (waiting for a shipment bag). And another $40.94 was earned last quarter from Kroger community rewards! Come get some goodies tomorrow at the Downtown Garden City Chili Cook-Off Community Festival! We’ll have cake pops, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, mini pies, brownies, fruity pebble treats, cupcakes, banana bread, hand crochet scarves and more!🍪🧁🥨🥧
Also, we are still collecting sneakers for our sneaker drive (GotSneakers) and will have a donation bin at the bake sale tent!

Hello! We’re excited to announce we’re having a sneaker drive with GotSneakers! We can earn money for Jenny’s scholarship by collecting used sneakers. The better the quality, the more we earn! We will have a collection box at the Garden City Chili Cook Off next to our bake sale table. The Chili Cook Off will be September 7th this year. For those who can’t come to the Chili Cook Off, we can arrange a pick up or you can drop off your sneakers on the porch of the Pomroy home in Garden City (pm for the address). Thanks for your continued support!!👟

Tomorrow is our yearly fundraiser but the weather forecast is calling for rain and we were worried we wouldn’t sell all of our goodies. Fortunately, the Sports Venue in Garden City has offered to let us sell our leftover baked goods after the Chili Cook Off. We will be there at 6pm until we sell out🧁🍪🎂

Thank you to everyone who continues to support and take an interest in Jenny’s scholarship! Today I received a beautiful letter from the most recent recipient of Jenny’s scholarship thanking everyone for the scholarship 💗. The student writes that they are using the scholarship to cover the first semester of college and that it helps tremendously.🥰
Also, a HUGE thank you to everyone who donates to Jenny’s scholarship by shopping at Kroger! These quarterly donations really add up!!
Last but not least, this year’s fundraiser will be a bake sale at the Garden City Chili Cook Off on Saturday, October 14th (which happens to be Jenny’s birthday!🎉). More details to follow coming soon!
