This summer, some of our students took on research projects that gave them a chance to build digital skills along the way. They practiced everything from online searches and typing to formatting documents, creating presentations, and sharing what they learned.
Each new skill makes the next one a little more possible. And together, they build the confidence and independence to keep learning, navigate work and everyday life, and take on whatever comes next. đź’š

One, two, three, four! âś‹ Summer learning looks a little different when you're this small.
In our Family Literacy program, learning happens across generations. While parents work toward their own educational goals, their children are building the early skills that will help them walk into school ready to learn.
Sometimes that means practicing numbers.
And sometimes it means counting with your whole hand. đź’š

Every day at Learning Lab, someone gets a little closer to their dream. đź’š Right now, our classrooms are quiet for summer break. In just two weeks, they'll look like this again. And we can't wait to welcome everyone back.

Behind every milestone is often a quiet moment like this.
A student asking questions.
A volunteer offering encouragement.
A new word understood.
A form completed.
A little more confidence than yesterday.
This is what personalized adult education looks like.

Sometimes progress looks like passing a test. Sometimes it looks like reading a form independently for the first time. And sometimes it looks like two people sitting side-by-side, patiently working through a challenge together.
Our volunteers make those moments possible every day. ❤️

In one Learning Lab classroom, you might find someone who arrived in Idaho six months ago sitting beside someone who has lived here for sixty years. They may come from different countries, speak different first languages, or have very different educational experiences.
But for a few hours each week, they become classmates. Learning together. Laughing together. Encouraging one another.
Adult education is about more than skills. It's about belonging.

Learning Lab classrooms look a little different. Some students are preparing for citizenship. Some are building English skills. Some are learning to read for the very first time.
What they share is a classroom where they are known, encouraged, and challenged by educators who believe deeply in their potential. ❤️
Every lesson is an opportunity to grow confidence, language, and connection.

One of the greatest joys of Learning Lab is watching students become teachers.
As adult students near the end of their educational journey with us, many begin giving back in new ways. They present in class, tutor newer students, serve as student representatives on our Board, or share skills from their own cultures and experiences.
For the past few years, this student has returned to teach origami to children while their parents learn. We are grateful not only for what our students learn here, but for all they teach us in return.
At Learning Lab, everyone has something to learn, and everyone has something to give.

This summer, our 6–12 year olds aren't just attending class. They're becoming entrepreneurs.
In The Lab, students are spending the next few weeks designing, creating, problem-solving, and bringing their ideas to life. Alongside them are teen volunteers who help make it possible for every child to receive a more personalized experience while their parents pursue their own educational goals.
At Learning Lab, learning happens across generations—and sometimes the best teachers are only a few years older than the students they inspire.
