Our FFA chapter has been hosting a canned food drive for our high school students and faculty. Because of the shorter weeks, we have EXTENDED it to THIS TUESDAY (2/24) after the last lunch period. Simply take your canned goods to the boxes labeled in your academy office. Our FFA officers will grab all cans Tuesday after lunch and tally results. Bet you can’t guess the prize for the winning academy 😉

Let’s come together to fill our food bank and tackle hunger in our community!!

Last Monday, we hosted a Cards that Care meeting. This meeting we decided to have a Valentine’s Day party with our FFA chapter. We also made Valentine cards for our local retirement home. This night was so much fun to just get to hang out with the chapter and we loved seeing the joy on everyone’s faces after receiving their cards!

This past Wednesday, we had 4 members compete in the FFA Ag Welding CDE at Garden City Community College. Team members completed a written exam as well as a pipe on plate weld, which was evaluated for it fit & fabrication along with the welds themselves. We received 5th as a team, along with team member Jace Seba placing 9th individually. Other teammates included Craig Collins, Cort Baker, and Kennan Murrell. Way to go Buffs!

Prepared Public Speaking - Extemporaneous Speaking - Ag Sales - Farm Business Management
-Monday, February 16th

Our chapter took a group of members to Holcomb High school for numerous CDE’s and LDE’s. A few of our individuals placed in the top five in their respective events.

Prepared Public Speaking:
Kealie Bryant- 2nd place
Kayleene Drieling- 5th place

Extemporaneous Speaking:
Kenann Murrell- 4th place

Ag sales team: 2nd place!
Team members included:
-Kennan Murrell
-Bentley Eastman
-Kealie Bryant
-Brayden Boyd

They tested their public speaking and readiness practices with these events. Those that placed high enough to represent us at State include the whole Ag sales team and Kennan for Extemporaneous Speaking.

We are incredibly proud of those members as they continue to show what they know and excel!

Ag Mechanics-
February 4th, 2026

A team of young men represented Garden City FFA at GCCC this Wednesday for the Ag Mechanics and Technology CDE. They participated in a variety of activities and placed well as a team!

Team members included:
Craig Collins- 7th place
Kennan Murrell- 8th place
Jace Seba- 15th place
Cort Baker- 16th place

Third as a Team!

Friends on the farm-
January 28th, 2026

We took almost our entire chapter to Kansas Farm Bureau Friends on the Farm! Collaborating with Holcomb FFA to present FFA yoga for local and surrounding area fourth grade classes. We spent our day with lots of laughs as we showed and explained what each office responsibilities through various fun yoga activities. A big thank you to everyone to participated and made this day one to remember!!

January 8th, we were thrilled to participate in Farm Bureau’s Train the Trainer at Holcomb High School! We learned tips for engaging presentations while advocating for agriculture, and even got to create and practice a few of our own! Thank you to Farm Bureau and Holcomb FFA for having us!

On January 8th, 4 members went to Fatm Bureau’s FFA Discussion Meet. Those members were Macy Hands, Kennan Murrell, Clara Ford, and Kaylene Driling. Kaylene made semi finals and Kennan was 10th place. Overall we had a pretty good day at this contest!
