This girl ran the St George marathon yesterday - in 3 hours and 3 minutes! We loved seeing her determination and joy. It's one of the great privileges of parenthood to have a front row seat as our kids achieve something they've worked hard to do. There are plenty of times we have a front row seat to our kids' disappointments and can be there to mourn with them - those times make the triumphant times all the more precious.

It was our 27th anniversary last week. We were planning to go to an amusement park since we haven't done that forever and we wanted to do something different and fun. But I woke up feeling sick plus we had a lot to finish up so I could launch my new Parent Coaching Collective on schedule (Jared is my amazing website back end guy and was fixing a bunch of things and I had a lot to do to polish things up). We decided to hunker down and get a bunch of work done and celebrate a different day. We did go on a little hike to watch the sunset from this picture is from that little outing.

So much of our 27 years has involved pivots resulting from situations that were initially scary but ultimately turned out for the best (from job losses to moving places where things didn't work out as planned to having a surprise set of twins when we were already stretched thin to kids making choices we weren't sure about...). It was great to reflect back on the surprises and challenges as well as all the wonderfulness we've experienced together!

Eyre Reunion 2025 (part 1): My family was in charge of the reunion this year and our theme was "Live Laugh Love" (often the themes are a little deeper but this year, we thought we'd go with something light, fun and somewhat cheesy). Here are a few glimpses of some ad hoc moments of living it up, laughing, and loving at Bear Lake!

I loved these wonderful ideas from ! We have some Christmas Eve traditions that we love but I'm excited to switch things up by adding a couple of Brooke's ideas plus many of these ideas would be great on other days around Christmas.

It’s easy to tune out what our children are prattling on about as we reply to a text or make dinner. But a few seconds of really paying attention can make all the difference.

According to the poet, Mary Oliver, these are the instructions for living:

Pay Attention

Be Astonished

Tell about it

These simple but profound instructions can make all the difference. Take 10 seconds to really look into the eyes of our family members, strive to really "see" the amazing person they are, and tell them what you see.

These two excellent young men are headed off to serve serving the people of Guatemala (Silas) and Mexico (Oliver) for the next two years. I'm so excited for all they will learn and experience and give. But wow, it's kind of overwhelming to think about not seeing them in person for two whole years! Letting go is such an important part of parenting and it's beautiful to watch our kids grow in ways that require them to be separated from us. But there are some pretty complex emotions involved!

A while back, I wrote a post detailing the "Do-it-Yourself Summer Camp" that we figured out for our family. My post went viral and has now been read by over a million parents!
