🌟 Intervention Time Is for EVERY Learner! 🌟

Last year, we made intervention a major priority at Ganado Elementary. We worked hard to create dedicated time in our school day to meet students where they are and provide targeted instruction based on their individual needs.

This year, we’ve taken that commitment one step further! We added an additional interventionist to our team, Ms. Hoskins, allowing us to expand what intervention looks like for ALL students. ā¤ļø

While some students use intervention time to receive additional support and targeted instruction, students who are ready for additional challenge and enrichment have opportunities to extend their learning through STEM activities, problem-solving, hands-on challenges, and other extension activities.

Our goal is simple: Every student should get what they need to grow. Intervention isn’t only about filling gaps; it’s also about extending learning, fostering curiosity, and providing meaningful challenges for students who are ready to take their learning further.

This is just one more way we are bringing our Ganado Elementary mission to life - creating learning experiences where students lead their learning, make their thinking visible, use academic language, and engage in rigorous learning every day. 🌟

šŸŽÆThis was the BEST start to a school year that I’ve experienced. I’m starting my 22nd year in education (I took a seven-year hiatus to run my own business). I’ve worked in both Louisiana and Texas public schools from a teacher and bus driver to a dean of students, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent. I say all of that to say this: Thank you Ganado ISD students, parents, teachers, staff, administrators, and Board members…you are incredibly awesome! I am blessed to work with you.

I’ve preached it 1,000 times…with staff stability, ā€˜all things education’ only gets better. Fact…elementary schools across the nation dread dismissal the first few weeks of school. Guess what…August 12th - the first day of school - at exactly 4:11 p.m., the last student departed Ganado Elementary School. It looked like mid-November or late March. Will it always be perfect…no! Will a student occasionally miss the bus or his/her ride, yes! However, the good will outweigh the bad. Stability proved that parents remembered procedures from the last couple of years. Thus, here’s another thank you to the parents for making our lives easier and most importantly, the lives of our students safer.

The first week was even better when TEA released the 2026 State Accountability Ratings. Wow! Based on the current accountability system, our District earned its highest ever grade, an 83(B) up from a 76(C) in 2025. In Region 3, we jumped 15 places, finishing in 16th across the 37 member schools. This is huge because it means that we GREW our students. How well did we grow our students? Let’s start with Ganado Elementary…Team Beldin grew 11 points from a 76(C) in 2025 to an 87(B) in 2026. In the current accountability system, this is Ganado Elementary’s second highest performance. Their growth was the most of any school in the District. Next, Ganado Junior High produced its highest ever score in the current accountability system. Team Guerrero grew 8 points from a 68(D) to a 76(C). I’m so happy for Ganado Junior High! Finally, Ganado High remained a B, jumping 4 points from an 82(B) to an 86(B). Team Martin’s 86(B) is the highest performance in the current accountability system. Allow me to reiterate what was posted on our page on August 12th…success on the field AND success in the classroom!

Moving on, look out for construction workers in the District for the foreseeable future. The remediation of the foundation at both the elementary and secondary buildings (Phase I) began on August 24th and should finish almost three weeks ahead of schedule. Remember, this is part of the January 10, 2025, settlement in Ganado ISD v. Travelers Ins. Co., et al. Phase II will encompass drainage and elevation. In terms of Bond 2025, architects will soon hold meetings with various stakeholders to begin developing renderings. The wheels are moving!

How can you not be excited if you are an Indian or Maiden? Goodness abounds and enthusiasm is everywhere. From test scores to extracurricular accolades, Ganado is just getting started. As we say around here…Don’t mess with Ganado!

As a result of the settlement with Ganado ISD v. Travelers Ins. Co., et al on January 10, 2025, remediation of both the elementary and secondary buildings has begun. Phase I focuses on the foundation in the secondary building and is scheduled to last through September 18, 2026. Disruption will be minimal, whereas most of the work will be performed under the building. This Wednesday during PLCs, our Ganado Elementary staff took time to collaborate and think intentionally about our students and the role the elementary years play in their journey. ā¤ļø

Our teachers worked together to answer questions about what we want our classrooms to look like, sound like, and feel like, as well as an important question: What do we want our students to be able to do when they leave Ganado Elementary?

That answer looks a little different from what we ultimately want for students when they graduate from Ganado ISD. At the elementary level, our job is to build the foundation; developing the thinkers, communicators, learners, and leaders who will continue to grow throughout their years at Ganado ISD.

From those conversations, our staff helped shape our Elementary Mission and Vision:

⭐ OUR MISSION
To create classrooms where students lead their learning, thinking is visible, academic language is expected, and learning is rigorous.

⭐ OUR VISION
Thinking deeply. Speaking confidently. Leading boldly.

These statements represent the foundation we want every Ganado Elementary student to have when they leave us and take their next step in their Ganado ISD journey. šŸ¹
