Resident & Fellow Appreciation Week was filled with gratitude, connection, and a lot of well-deserved celebration!

As GME staff, we have the privilege of working alongside our residents and fellows every day and witnessing firsthand the dedication, resilience, and compassion they bring to their patients, teams, and programs. This week was our opportunity to pause and celebrate them.

From Tuesday through Thursday, we started the mornings with breakfast and swag as a small token of appreciation for the incredible work happening across our programs. Thursday evening, we gathered for a social at The Spot - a chance to step away from busy schedules, laugh together, and simply enjoy community.

We wrapped up the week on a sweet note with churros and hot cocoa from Planet Churro, ending the celebration with smiles and a reminder of how valued our trainees truly are.

To our residents and fellows: thank you for your commitment to learning, your dedication to patient care, and the energy you bring to our institution every single day. Supporting your journey is truly an honor, and we are proud to be part of your GME family.

A special thank you to Physician Resources Services for co-hosting our social event, and to all of our program coordinators who volunteered their time this week to help make these celebrations possible. Your support and teamwork truly made this week a success.

The University of Texas Medical Branch will honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on Monday, January 19, 2026.
