👏 Another major win for GC nursing students! Galveston College announced a standout performance by its Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) graduates on the NCLEX-RN, the licensure exam required for entry into professional nursing practice.

In December 2025, the college’s ADN students achieved an impressive first-time pass rate of 91.17%, underscoring the GC’s strengthened nursing program and commitment to student success.

The NCLEX-RN, administered nationwide, is the standardized exam used by state boards of nursing to determine whether a nursing graduate is safe and prepared to begin practice as an entry-level registered nurse. The Texas Board of Nursing requires a minimum 80% first-time pass rate.

“We have been laser-focused on transforming and expanding the ADN program for the past decade,” said Dr. Mary Anna Thomas, Galveston College director of nursing programs. “Seeing our ADN students achieve a 91.17% pass rate is especially rewarding for our students, faculty and staff.”
